In their own words
Beeftext
Beeftext is a free Windows text snippet tool. It replaces a typed keyword with its associated snippet, using combos that connect a short trigger to longer or more complex text. It works in text areas of applications supporting copy and paste, and snippets can contain Unicode characters in any language. Suggested uses include email signatures, Markdown snippets, and text emoji. Beeftext is open source under the MIT License, with no ads or malware. The project says it neither stores typing information nor sends data to a server. It downloads a text file daily to check for updates, and that check can be disabled in application preferences. The software is in maintenance mode: no new features are planned, although fixes for major issues may be provided. Xavier Michelon develops and manages it. The README says the project is not seeking contributors and will reject pull requests.
TextExpander

It supports macOS, Windows, Chrome, Linux through a Chrome extension, iPhone and iPad, and a web app. The Free plan lasts indefinitely without a credit card and allows five active Snippets; free users can swap one active Snippet every two weeks. Free sharing covers up to five team members across three teams. New accounts preview advanced features for 30 days, then move to Free automatically with five Snippets remaining active. Pro costs $5.00 per month per user when billed annually, and Business costs $10.00 per month per user when billed annually; both include unlimited active Snippets and teams. Paid plans add dynamic content such as date math and JavaScript. Enterprise has custom pricing and can include SSO, SCIM, and customized reporting.
