In their own words
BEMServer
BEMServer is an open-source platform for deploying a modular building energy management system. It gathers information from building management systems and sensors alongside weather, occupant feedback, building descriptions, and contextual data. The platform connects building hardware with data-oriented services, storing building models, time series, and events for access through documented REST APIs. Its data model follows IFC and Haystack standards. Processing modules interpret collected information to identify issues or inefficient operation and support recommendations and decisions. Listed modules cover fault detection and diagnosis, renewable energy simulation, energy management, load forecasting, indoor environmental quality, and visualization. The software is licensed under AGPL-3.0, and sellers using a modified version must publish their modifications under that license. There is no software license fee, although installation, configuration, maintenance, and selected modules may be paid services. The maker recommends help from someone with Python and Docker knowledge and says installation was tested on Debian 9. BEMServer currently supports building monitoring; other uses require extending its functionality.
Verdigris
Verdigris is a cloud-first platform for electrical intelligence and real-time energy monitoring in data centers, commercial buildings, and industrial facilities. Its Smart Current Transformers track energy at building, equipment, or phase level, with analysis at the edge. Cloud software presents energy use, demand peaks, forecasts, power quality, and end-use information, including watts, voltage, current, and power factor. The company says granular readings can help data centers identify stranded capacity and manage AI workload growth. Adaptive Automation uses energy, weather, and building signals to forecast usage and adjust HVAC operation for efficiency and peak demand management. Building management systems can connect through BACnet/IP and Modbus/TCP. The API provides property and asset details with time-series measurements; users can export app data as CSV. A mobile app supports installation tasks, and the cloud service is accessible through a web browser without software installation. Verdigris says customer energy data is available only to authorized customer accounts and is not shared without consent. It announced completion of a SOC 2 Type II compliance audit in 2024. Pricing is on request; product pages invite prospective customers to request a demo.
