| Integrations | Documented generation targets include Python, FastAPI, Django, SQLAlchemy, SQL, Java, React, PyTorch and TensorFlow. | External-data integration covers Jira, Confluence, Polarion, Azure DevOps/TFS, Wrike, ServiceNow, Autodesk, Bugzilla, Salesforce, SharePoint and Dropbox. |
| Security | For the Spec-Driven Agent free tier, no API key is required, and any user-supplied key is never stored. | Pro Cloud Server supports HTTPS/TLS encryption, Windows Active Directory or OpenID authentication, row-level security and up to 20 visibility-security levels. |
| Self-hosting | Users can clone the repository, install dependencies, run Docker Compose and start the backend and frontend locally. | Pro Cloud Server can run on an organization's intranet, LAN or cloud and connect clients to DBMS repositories without exposing database servers through firewalls. |
| Support | The project offers an on-page assistant without an account, email support, and GitHub bug triage weekly. | Sparx Systems lists a user forum, online manual, bug reporting, feature requests and email support. |
| System requirements | Current documentation tests Python 3.11 and 3.12; local editor development additionally needs Git, Docker and Node.js 20 or newer. | The Windows client requires 2 GB RAM, 2 GB disk space and a 1280x720-or-higher display; Linux and macOS use Wine or CrossOver rather than native clients. |
| What it does | BESSER is an open-source low-code platform that turns models into APIs, databases, agents and deployment artifacts. | Enterprise Architect is a collaborative platform for visualizing, analyzing, modeling, testing and maintaining business, software, systems and enterprise architectures. |

In their own words
BESSER
BESSER is an open-source low-code platform for building smart applications by modeling once and generating APIs, databases, agents, and deployments. Its 15+ generators cover databases, REST APIs, web apps, AI agents, and deployment manifests. Built-in modeling includes class diagrams, state machines, object diagrams, agents, and deployment specifications. The GUI Creator deterministically generates complete React frontends from platform-independent GUI models, and AI-assisted modeling supports software with embedded AI components. BESSER connects through an MCP server to Claude Desktop, Cursor, and other MCP-aware clients; BESSER Skills also integrate with Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot for model and code-generation workflows. Generated Docker components can be used to deploy a running application from a model. The project is MIT-licensed and free, with no freemium tier or hidden fees. It runs on the web, Linux, macOS, and Windows. The Python package installs with pip, and the full codebase can run locally for extensions and generators. It is tested on Python 3.10, 3.11, and 3.12; Python 3.13 is not supported yet. Support includes an on-page assistant, email, and weekly GitHub bug triage.
Sparx Enterprise Architect
Sparx Enterprise Architect is a visual modeling tool for business and IT systems, software and systems engineering, and real-time and embedded development. It supports UML, SysML, BPMN, and other open standards, linking specifications with analysis, design, implementation, testing, and maintenance models. Diagram coverage includes UML use case, activity, state, sequence, communication, package, class, object, component, and deployment types, plus BPMN and SysML. Requirements management supports hierarchical requirements, links to model elements, reporting, and impact analysis. Teams can simulate behavioral models using triggers, guards, and effects, including JavaScript, and generate or reverse engineer code for languages including C++, C#, Java, PHP, and Python. Built-in version control and deployable cloud-based servers support shared projects. The trial lasts 30 days and permits use of any edition, though printed documents carry a watermark. The product supports Windows, Linux, macOS, self-hosting, and API access.
