Better Cater
Better Cater is catering software that manages an event from inquiry through proposals, menus, BEOs, kitchen reports, invoices, and profit analysis using one event record. Users can create branded proposals from menus, send contracts, and collect electronic signatures. Reusable menus and packages support per-person or fixed pricing, with staff, rentals, taxes, and service charges in the catalog. The calendar tracks inquiry, tentative, confirmed, and other statuses, and repeat events can be duplicated. Events can be subscribed to in Google Calendar, Outlook, Apple Calendar, or other apps that read ICS feeds, but the feed syncs one way from Better Cater. The company describes access on phones and tablets and supports current and previous major versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Premium includes API access for custom integrations. Plus costs $83 a year with annual billing or $99 a month; Premium costs $125 a year or $149 a month. The service has no free plan but offers a 30-day trial. Online client payments for deposits and balances are marked as coming soon.
Pxier Salon
Pxier Salon is a cloud platform for hair, beauty and nail salons, barbershops, and businesses with one or multiple locations. Its calendar handles walk-ins and appointments together, checking stylist, chair and station availability to avoid conflicts. The POS covers service and retail sales, tips, split transactions by stylist, refunds, and payment by cash, checks, cards, coupons or gift cards. Client records can hold color and chemical formulas, service history, preferences and allergies. Salons can sell prepaid service packages and recurring memberships with automated monthly billing. Listed integrations include QuickBooks, Xero and Sage, as well as third-party calendars, payment processors and loyalty or rewards services. The RESTful API supports creating and updating client, appointment, transaction, service and product data. Pxier’s salon app is available for iPhone and Android, and is free for businesses subscribed to its salon cloud software. The service is also available on the web. Essentials is $10 a month per station or chair, with a $49 minimum; Professional is $15 a month with a $79 minimum; Enterprise is $20 a month with a $129 minimum. A free 30-day trial is offered; there is no free plan.
