In their own words

BetterSpend

BetterSpend is open-source procure-to-pay software for teams that want to run procurement on their own infrastructure. It supports guided request intake, purchase orders, configurable multi-step approvals, supplier management and punchout catalogs. Approval rules can use amount, department, project or vendor, while real-time budget checks can gate purchase orders and track spend by department, project or GL account. BetterSpend matches purchase orders, goods receipts and invoices at line level, with configurable tolerances. Vendor and contract tools include compliance tracking, expiry alerts and a supplier portal for invoice submission. S3-compatible storage and AI-powered OCR support invoice extraction and matching; an append-only log records changes, including who made them, when and why. Listed integrations include QuickBooks and Xero for GL export, MinIO or S3 storage, PostgreSQL 16, Redis with BullMQ and Punchout cXML catalogs. The maker says Docker Compose deployment includes PostgreSQL, Redis and MinIO, and procurement data stays in the user's database. It is available as self-hosted software and on the web, under the MIT License. The self-hosted plan is free, with no seats or usage caps.
