Overview

DaySmart Salon combines appointment booking, payment processing and staff administration for salons and independent beauty professionals. It is best suited to businesses that want clients to book across web and social channels and need more than a calendar; the trade-off is that team size and messaging capacity shape the plan choice.

Hair and nail salons, barbershops, skin clinics, independent stylists and suite renters are all within its intended audience. Multi-location support, inventory tracking, a staff calendar, memberships and packages give it scope beyond scheduling. DaySmart has provided business-management software since 1998 and is headquartered in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Key features

Booking and attendance

Clients can book 24/7 through a salon website, Instagram, Facebook or a Google Business listing, and the salon can require approval before an appointment is confirmed. Automated text and email reminders, two-way text confirmations, cancellation and rescheduling support, and upfront deposits address different causes of missed visits. That is a useful combination for appointment-led businesses, though the higher plans are where text marketing and expanded messaging capacity enter the package.

Payments and salon operations

Built-in processing accepts card, contactless and mobile payments, with funds deposited the next business day. Commission calculations, staff performance tracking, digital time clocks and per-staff reporting help owners manage a team as well as a client book. Inventory tracking, memberships and packages, and multi-location inventory add operational breadth, while the plan ladder makes user counts a key consideration for growing salons.

Mobile, desktop and integrations

The mobile app supports adding clients, booking appointments and checking them out. A desktop version is also available; version 13 and higher requires .NET Framework 4.8. US customers on Deluxe, Premier or Platinum subscriptions can connect QuickBooks Online, but need a separate QuickBooks subscription. Glammatic is a partner for custom salon websites with automated SEO, mobile optimization and integrated online booking.

Support

Phone support runs 9 AM to 9 PM ET, Monday through Friday. Live chat is offered Monday through Saturday, and email responses are provided within 24 hours on weekdays. DaySmart's PCI compliance article identifies CardConnect as a PCI DSS Level 1 Certified Gateway integrated with its small-business systems.

Pricing

DaySmart Salon is paid software with a 14-day trial and no free plan. Basic costs 29.00 USD per month and supports one user, online booking, appointment confirmations, Instagram and Facebook booking, payment processing and online deposits. It is a credible entry point for a solo professional who needs the core booking and payment workflow, but it does not include the higher-tier marketing and team allowances.

Deluxe costs 69.00 USD per month for three users, adding online gift cards, digital forms, a client loyalty system, basic payroll and email marketing. It suits a small team that needs client-retention and administrative tools. Deluxe Growth costs 149.00 USD per month and adds text marketing, two-way texting and reputation management to Deluxe, making it the step for salons that rely on text-based outreach.

Premium costs 199.00 USD per month and includes everything in Deluxe Growth, six users, QuickBooks Connect and an increased text/email plan. It is the clearest fit for a larger team that needs accounting integration and more messaging capacity. Premium Growth has custom pricing and allows unlimited users, with 5,000 text messages and 20,000 email messages per month; that capacity may suit a larger operation, but the custom price makes comparison less straightforward. No annual billing terms are given for these plans.

Platforms

DaySmart Salon runs on Android, iOS, web and Windows. The mobile app handles client and appointment tasks, while the downloadable desktop version gives Windows users a separate option subject to its .NET Framework requirement.

Who it's for

Choose DaySmart Salon if your salon needs multi-channel online booking, payment processing and practical staff tools in one product, especially if deposits and reminders are important to managing attendance. It can also suit multi-location businesses needing inventory support. Solo operators can start with Basic, but teams should check the user allowance against their headcount before choosing a tier. Businesses that need the largest messaging quotas should compare Premium Growth's custom pricing with their budget.

Pros and cons

Pros: Booking spans salon websites, social profiles and Google Business, with approvals, reminders, two-way confirmations and deposits to help manage attendance.
Pros: Payment processing, staff reporting and time clocks, inventory, memberships and multi-location support extend its usefulness beyond scheduling.
Pros: The plan ladder has defined user counts on Basic through Premium, and Premium Growth specifies monthly text and email quotas.
Cons: The jump from 69.00 USD per month for Deluxe to 149.00 USD per month for Deluxe Growth is substantial for a salon that wants text marketing and two-way texting.
Cons: Basic is limited to one user, while even Premium is capped at six; larger teams must consider custom-priced Premium Growth.
Cons: QuickBooks Online integration is limited to US customers on specified subscriptions and requires a separate QuickBooks subscription.

Alternatives

For a free starting point, Booqinq offers a free plan and runs on Android, iOS, macOS, web and Windows. Anolla also has a free plan, with paid features available as needed, and supports the same broad platform range. Choose either when avoiding a paid starting plan matters more than DaySmart's specified salon-focused booking and operations bundle.

Salonized starts with an Appointments plan at 21.00 EUR per month, with annual billing available at a 10% discount; extra employees cost 5 € and extra locations 16. It is worth comparing if you want a lower stated monthly entry price and explicit employee and location add-on costs. Klippa has a free plan for one staff member and one location, including 50 SMS per month before a 6c charge per message, making it a relevant alternative for a very small operation willing to work within those caps.

SalonHub360 has a 19.99 USD per month Starter plan for one staff member, with online booking, a service menu, client management and basic appointment reminders; consider it if those core needs and a lower starting price matter most. Salonnare offers a free plan limited to one staff member and 50 bookings per month, while its 29.00 EUR per month Starter plan allows three staff members and unlimited monthly bookings. Nail Studio Pro is a free-plan alternative with stated client, booking and service caps, suited to readers comparing free options specifically for nail studios. Zolmi shows a three-staff START example with stock limited to 10 products and SMS from A$0; compare it if that example's team and stock limits fit your operation.

Verdict

DaySmart Salon is a strong fit for salons that want booking channels, deposits, payment processing and staff operations under one roof, with a clear path from solo use to larger teams. Its main appeal is the breadth of the day-to-day toolkit; its main drawback is the steep cost increase for advanced messaging and the user limits on lower plans. Choose it when those integrated workflows justify the tier, and look elsewhere if a free plan or a lower-cost path for a growing team is the priority.
