In their own words

Bibcitation

Bibcitation is a free web and browser-extension tool for creating citations, bibliographies, references, and works cited. It can automatically cite books, journal articles, and websites. Supported styles include MLA, APA, Chicago, IEEE, and more than 9,000 other formats, with CSL tools used for formatting. Users can copy a bibliography or export work to Google Docs, Word, and other popular formats. Add-ons are listed for Chrome, Google Docs, and Microsoft Word. The free plan costs nothing, and the homepage states no usage limits. Organizations can add a custom citation button to a webpage through a book ISBN link; that free integration currently supports books only. Bibcitation’s privacy policy says browser data may include browser type, language, referring site, requested pages, request time, and potentially IP addresses. Collected information is stored and processed in the United States. The policy is marked last updated September 24, 2020. Users must be at least 13, or older where local rules require it.

Scholarly

Scholarly is a browser-based AI workspace that uses your source material to create study and research outputs. Add PDFs, recordings, notes, slides, webpages, videos, images, YouTube links, or pasted text, then make flashcards, quizzes, practice exams, study guides, podcasts, video lectures, slides, mind maps, worksheets, and timelines. Chat answers include checked citations, with a Sources button opening the page supporting each claim. Deep Research searches the web, evaluates sources, and produces cited reports with charts and inline links.

Scholarly works in a browser on laptops, tablets, and phones, and syncs work through your account. Its Google Drive connection can use selected files as sources and save finished work as new Docs or Slides. Teams can use shared libraries, roles, central billing, and model controls. A free plan and free trial are available; paid plans start at $12/user/mo (annual). Scholarly says private user content is not used to train general-purpose AI by default; training requires separate opt-in.
