Overview

Bigin puts visual sales pipelines at the center of customer management, then adds synced email, marketing and workflow automation. Zia-powered tools provide writing assistance, summaries, suggested replies and churn analysis. Setup is intended to take about 30 minutes, making it a practical starting point for smaller operations rather than a long implementation project.

The product comes from a maker founded in 2020. Zoho says its wider platform has more than 30 years serving businesses and 150 million users. Customer data is not sold or used for advertising, and customers can export it at any time. Zoho infrastructure is described as certified for ISO 27001, GDPR, SOC 2 and HIPAA.

Key features

Pipelines and automation

Visual pipelines make deal progress the primary working view. Workflow automation is included, but quotas differ sharply by edition: the free plan allows three automations, while Express, Premier and Bigin 360 raise that to 30, 50 and 100 rules respectively. Paid plans also provide multiple team pipelines, so they are the sensible choice when several people or sales processes must run together.

Email, marketing and messaging

Email sync and email marketing cover routine outreach, while WhatsApp integration supports sending messages, receiving replies and retaining conversation history. Integrations with Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Shopify, Mailchimp and Zapier help connect sales work to finance, productivity, commerce and marketing systems.

AI and administration

AI assistance is most substantial in Premier and Bigin 360, which include 1,000 and 3,000 AI credits per month. Paid editions add user profiles, roles and team administration. Onboarding, webinars, administrator training, data-import help and support are included with paid plans, and support runs by phone, email and live chat 24 hours a day, five days a week.

Pricing

Bigin is freemium, with monthly and annual billing on paid editions. Annual billing saves up to 35%; the published annual prices are:

Plan	Price	What it includes
Free	Free	One user, one pipeline, 500 records and three automations.
Express	$84.00 per user per year ($7.00 per user/month, billed annually)	Three team pipelines, 50,000 records, 30 automations and 10 custom fields per module.
Premier	$144.00 per user per year ($12.00 per user/month, billed annually)	Five team pipelines, 100,000 records, 50 automations, 25 custom fields per module and 1,000 AI credits monthly.
Bigin 360	$216.00 per user per year ($18.00 per user/month, billed annually)	15 team pipelines, 1,000,000 records, 100 automation rules, 5 GB file storage and 3,000 AI credits monthly.

Free is appropriate for a solo operator with a small contact base; its one-user, 500-record ceiling rules it out for a shared team. Express is the economical team entry point, while Premier adds more structure and AI. Bigin 360 is aimed at businesses needing substantially more records, pipelines, automation and file storage. A 15-day trial requires no credit card, users can cancel anytime, and Bigin offers free onboarding plus a 100% money-back guarantee.

Platforms

Apps are available for iOS, iPadOS, Android and macOS, including dedicated mobile apps for iOS and Android. That coverage suits teams switching between desktop and mobile work.

Who it's for

Bigin is a strong fit for small businesses and MSMEs with straightforward sales processes, especially teams that want visual pipeline discipline, WhatsApp history and connected email without buying separate automation tools. It is less suitable for a solo user whose needs exceed 500 records, or for organizations that require larger teams and multiple pipelines on the free tier.

Pros and cons

Pro: The free plan gives one person a functional CRM with one pipeline, 500 records and three automations.
Pro: Paid tiers scale from three to 15 team pipelines and from 50,000 to one million records.
Pro: WhatsApp history, major accounting and productivity integrations, and Zia AI reduce tool switching.
Con: Collaboration and meaningful capacity require payment; the free edition supports only one user and one pipeline.
Con: AI credits, custom fields, storage and automation allowances are tiered, so advanced use pushes buyers toward Premier or Bigin 360.

Alternatives

Choose Bitrix24 CRM instead if you need a free 1–2-user CRM with 5 GB storage and broader platform coverage, including web, Windows and self-hosting. Zoho CRM is the better fit when a free plan for three users is more important than Bigin’s smaller-business focus. Pick Freshsales for a free plan supporting up to three users and a low-cost Growth tier. SuiteCRM suits teams wanting open-source, self-hosted control. Odoo CRM is an option when an open-source suite and one-app free plan are priorities. The Agency CRM targets agencies needing client and invoicing limits in its free tier. Capsule CRM is a simpler choice for two users, 250 contacts and one pipeline. KudosCRM is an alternative with a free three-user plan and photography-studio management orientation.

Verdict

Choose Bigin by Zoho CRM if you run a small business and want visual pipelines backed by messaging, automation, integrations and optional AI. Its main advantage is a clear progression from a useful solo free plan to high-capacity paid editions. Look elsewhere if you need a larger free team, self-hosting, or capabilities outside a compact small-business CRM.
