In their own words
BitMatch
BitMatch is free software for copying camera-card footage to multiple drives and verifying each copy before a card is erased. It targets indie filmmakers, YouTubers, photographers, and small productions, with builds for macOS, iPhone, and iPad. Verification can use SHA-256 checks at each destination, a Thorough mode that rereads the source and adds MD5, or a Paranoid byte-by-byte comparison with SHA-256. Camera detection includes Sony, Canon, ARRI, RED, Blackmagic, Panasonic, Fujifilm, GoPro, DJI, Insta360, and generic DCIM folders. Reports export as PDF, CSV, or JSON. Verified copies receive an ASC MHL inventory by default, with an Advanced-setting switch to disable it. Mac can send verified local copies by SFTP after backup; S3 and WebDAV are unavailable. BitMatch reads sources without writing, uses temporary files, and avoids overwriting conflicting destination files. The project is beta software from one person and has not tested every hardware or system combination.
Fotoback
Fotoback is an iPhone photo backup service for parents that organizes camera-roll photos around a child's age and milestones. It can sync new photos in the background while the app is closed or the phone is locked, then sort images by age and identify milestones such as first smiles, crawling, and first steps. Its wardrobe feature builds a clothing inventory from outfits in photos, offers wear insights and alerts for outgrown or unworn items, and supports separate profiles for the user, their partner, and each child. The maker says Fotoback for Mac can back up an iPhone's messages, app data, settings, and photos to a Fotoback account without using iCloud storage. The App Store listing identifies iPhone and iPad support and says the app is not verified for macOS. Plans include free 5 GB encrypted backup for one child profile, monthly choices from $1.99 a month for 100 GB, and one-time options at 24.99 USD or 199.00 USD. The maker says photos are not used to train AI, accessed only to store and return them, or shared with third parties. The privacy policy describes TLS 1.2+ in transit, AES-256 at rest, and storage regions in Ireland or configurable US.
