In their own words
BlankComic
BlankComic is a free, browser-based comic panel creator for storytellers and artists. Users can arrange panels by dragging, resizing, or splitting them, or start with more than 30 templates. The editor offers speech, thought, shout, and whisper bubbles, plus narration, captions, sound effects, and comic-style fonts. Reusable character color schemes can be applied across panels. Projects can include multiple pages that users add, reorder, or duplicate, then export together as a PDF. Other export options are PNG, SVG, and editable .blank files; PNG output supports up to 300 DPI. Page formats include US Comic, A4, Manga, Square, Webtoon, and custom dimensions. Projects autosave in browser storage and can be moved between devices as .blank files. The maker says projects remain in the browser and are not uploaded. After the page loads, the editor works offline, though internet access is needed for the initial load and Google Fonts. Font requests are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. Exports use sRGB; CMYK output is not supported.
Weekly Comic Studio
Weekly Comic Studio offers a Windows creator app for making comics and a website for reading and discovering published comics. The editor supports editable panels, angled inner gutters, art-style choices, and directions for individual panels. It also supports manual page creation, lettering, local project files, and organizing imported artwork, with panel layouts and a character library. The creator app requires 64-bit Windows 10 or 11; the website works in desktop, tablet, and phone browsers. Its free plan costs nothing and includes 50 credits refilled monthly, three active projects, and one concurrent AI job. Paid plans start at $4.99 a month. AI text and image tasks use Studio Credits, and external AI-provider subscriptions are separate. Comic publication submissions are free, but packages must be submitted through the Studio app, pass validation, and undergo automated and human review. Creators retain the rights they hold in their work while granting limited permission to host and display submitted editions. Sign-in is available through Google, Facebook, or ChatGPT.
