In their own words
Jutoh
Jutoh is desktop software for importing, editing, formatting, and creating fiction and nonfiction ebooks. It runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and works offline except for user-controlled update checks and downloads. It imports DOCX, ODT, plain text, Markdown, HTML, CBZ, and existing Epub files, and exports Epub, Kindle, ODT, HTML, CBZ, text, and Markdown. The maker says Epub and Kindle output covers distributors including Amazon, Apple, Nook, Kobo, and Google Books. Editing tools include formatting cleanup, project analysis with warnings and tips, a contents wizard, indexes, notes, and bibliographies. It also checks contrast, image alternative text, and heading structure, and can write accessibility metadata. DOCX and ODT imports preserve most styles, while Epub and HTML imports simplify content and do not retain all original CSS. The demo is limited to 20 documents, adds a Jutoh credit to generated chapters, and displays registration reminders. The listed Standard Edition is $45 a month, billed; prices exclude VAT. There is no free plan, but a free trial is available.
