Overview

HealthyCloud GmbH, based in Magdeburg, Germany, offers Clare on Android, iOS and the web. Its individual service combines conversations with reflection exercises and coping tools; the maker says psychologists curate the content and advisors oversee it.

Clare also describes a separate organizational product: conversational AI for clinic and practice admissions. The maker says its intake assessment technology saves practitioners 60 minutes of assessment time and describes WhatsApp and phone access for employees. It says the technology is easy to integrate, without naming other integrations.

Key features

Users can follow a weekly call schedule or start a phone call when it suits them, and can message Clare on WhatsApp. SMS is also named as an access platform. Conversation memory, behavioral coaching, guided exercises, human escalation and crisis resources are among the listed capabilities. That range makes Clare a plausible fit for someone seeking recurring prompts and coping support in a familiar conversational channel, rather than only a collection of self-guided material.

Exercises draw on self-compassion, stress management, positive psychology, resilience and meditation. Clare says it does not provide traditional psychotherapy or replace it, and recommends professional help for persistent or strong anxiety symptoms. Its terms exclude people with bipolar disorder, psychotic disorder, acute substance dependence or acute suicidality. Crisis resources do not make it suitable as a substitute for urgent or professional care.

The maker says it does not sell user data, uses health information only with explicit consent, and will delete data on request. It says user data is never used to train its systems or models, and states that Clare is HIPAA and GDPR compliant. The privacy policy sets an 18+ age requirement.

Pricing

The Free plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes calls and messages from 9 am to 5 pm in the user’s local time. That cap may be enough for daytime contact, but it is a meaningful restriction for anyone seeking support outside those hours.

Monthly costs 4.99 USD per month, billed monthly, with a 7-day free trial, unlimited calls and messages, and cancellation anytime. It suits someone who wants fewer access constraints without an annual commitment. Annual is 29.99 USD per year, also with a 7-day free trial, unlimited calls and messages, and cancellation anytime; the plan page says “billed monthly” and also shows “$8.33/month,” so its stated billing terms conflict. Premium costs 99.99 GBP per year, billed £99.99 annually, and adds 24/7 access alongside unlimited calls and messages. That is the clearest fit for readers who value round-the-clock access, but the higher annual commitment is less suitable for a trial user. Platforms

Clare runs on Android, iOS and the web. Phone calls, WhatsApp and SMS are also listed as ways to access it, with the Free plan’s calls and messages limited to 9 am–5 pm local time.

Who it's for

Clare is for adults seeking conversational self-help and coping tools, particularly those who prefer a scheduled or user-triggered call over app-only exercises. It is not intended for people under 18 or for those with the conditions excluded by its terms. Anyone with persistent or severe symptoms should seek professional help; Clare is not psychotherapy.

Pros and cons

Pro: Scheduled and on-demand phone calls plus messaging give users more than one way to seek support.
Pro: Unlimited calls and messages on paid plans remove the Free plan’s daytime access window.
Pro: The maker states clear privacy commitments, including consent for health data processing and no use of user data to train its models.
Con: The age and condition exclusions rule out some people who may be looking for mental health support.
Con: Clare explicitly does not replace psychotherapy, limiting its role for people who need clinical care.
Con: The Annual plan’s price and billing wording is inconsistent, making its payment cadence harder to assess.

Alternatives

AI Mental Health Chatbots is the broader category to browse if Clare’s call-and-message model is not the right fit. Choose Dr. Riya by Mindtalk if you want a free option on Android, iOS and web that explicitly offers no diagnosis, prescribing or therapy. GiGi is another freemium option, available on the web. Choose Noa by Anshap if you want its core features at no cost across Android, iOS and web, without paywalls or hidden fees.

Thrive AI offers a free chatbot, blogs and self-assessments, but its free plan excludes AI-guided exercises; that may suit readers prioritizing free material over Clare’s calls. CBT without a Therapist: Helpy has a free plan with unlimited thought journaling, a limited number of AI chat replies, an exercise library with audio and the first module of each course. Mentis is a mobile option with mood, energy and sleep tracking, articles, journaling, core CBT activities and limited AI features on its free plan. Blue Fever is a free iOS and macOS app. Elomia is a freemium option across Android, iOS, web and API, with individual subscription prices varying by option.

Verdict

Clare is a strong fit for adults who want structured, conversational self-help by phone or message and are comfortable with its stated boundaries. Its main reason to choose is the combination of scheduled or on-demand calls, messaging and guided coping tools; look elsewhere if you need psychotherapy, fall within its exclusions or require dependable round-the-clock access without the Premium annual plan.
