In their own words
Blue Iris
Blue Iris is video management software for security monitoring and webcam recording. It accepts up to 128 webcams, network IP cameras, analog cards, or a Windows desktop as camera sources. Recording can run continuously, periodically, or start when motion or audio is detected. Alerts may use a loudspeaker, email, instant message, voice call, or an external program or script. The built-in UI3 web server provides remote desktop and mobile viewing of live cameras, recorded clips, and alerts, with permission-based authentication. Version 6 includes AI services for object classification, tracking, counting, facial recognition, and license plate recognition. Blue Iris can control Sonoff devices configured for DIY mode and stream through RTMP to YouTube, Facebook, Wowza, and OBS. The vendor says HTTPS can encrypt server traffic with a self-generated or CA-signed certificate. Minimum requirements include a newer Intel processor, 8 GB RAM, and 64-bit Windows 10 or an equivalent server. A free 15-day evaluation is offered; initial licensing includes one year of basic maintenance.
Camo Studio
Camo Studio uses cameras you already own as video sources for meetings, streaming and recording. Supported sources include phones, built-in cameras, webcams, DSLRs, action cameras and Continuity Camera connected to a computer. Image controls include background softening or replacement, lighting correction, LUTs, framing and AI-powered image analysis. The scene editor can combine text, logos and overlays, or users can choose default scenes. Camo works as a virtual camera in over 40 apps, including Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Discord and OBS. Camo Studio runs on macOS 12.3 or later and Windows 10 or later; Camo Camera requires iOS 15 or later or Android 7.0 or later. The free plan supports up to 720p, while Pro supports resolutions up to and including 4K. Camo says audio and video processing happens in device memory and that this media does not leave the device. Its privacy information says device metadata may be sent, and optional features may process necessary face or object data on-device. Some features are marked as coming soon on Android or Windows.
