PurposeBMC describes Helix Operations Management with AIOps as providing automated root cause analysis and remediation, service-centric monitoring, and advanced event management.Causely gives operations agents causal context from a live model of a system so they can diagnose issues and act proactively.
Root cause analysisWhen a service is impacted, it correlates related events, identifies a root cause, ranks impacted nodes, and shows service impact across related services. Its causal inference identifies upstream causes across cascading symptoms and is described as deterministic and explainable.

In their own words

BMC Helix AIOps

BMC Helix AIOps provides service monitoring, event management, root cause analysis, and remediation for infrastructure operations. It tracks services in real time and shows their health in a severity-coded heatmap. When a service is affected, the product correlates related events, identifies a root cause, ranks impacted nodes, and displays effects across related services. AI and machine learning group events into situations to reduce noise and surface issues during event storms. The product can ingest events, metrics, logs, traces, and topology data from BMC and third-party sources. Connected to BMC HelixGPT, it can provide AI-generated best-action recommendations, log insights, and a virtual agent for investigating situations. Documented incident integrations through HelixGPT include BMC Helix ITSM, Jira Service Management, and ServiceNow ITSM; external log sources include Splunk Enterprise and Elasticsearch. It also connects to BMC Helix ITSM for change-risk information. Pricing is on request, with no public price listed. BMC says customers must contact Support to enable HelixGPT features for AIOps.

Causely

Causely gives operations agents a live causal model of a system to help diagnose incidents and act proactively. Its causal inference identifies upstream causes behind cascading symptoms and is described as deterministic and explainable. Agents can traverse the causal graph to assess blast radius and compare behavior before and after deployments; they connect to the model through MCP. Causely ingests traces, metrics, logs, and alerts from existing observability tools, with OpenTelemetry, Datadog, and Prometheus named as examples. Its supported technologies include agents, telemetry sources, installation options, and workflow destinations such as Slack and Microsoft Teams. Deployment options include Kubernetes, Docker, hybrid SaaS, and bring-your-own-cloud. Causely says raw source data remains in the customer environment while distilled symptom state goes to its SaaS backend. BYOC can keep the entire application in the customer environment, including in air-gapped deployments. Professional Edition is $2,000 a month and covers up to 500 services, with 30 days of data retention and standard hybrid deployment. Enterprise pricing is custom.
