In their own words

Boldin

Boldin is a financial planning platform for shaping a household plan around resources, goals, values, and priorities. Its Planner covers income and spending alongside Social Security, benefits, taxes, real estate, and other parts of household finances. Users can model alternatives, review projections, and stress-test plans with Monte Carlo analysis. Connected accounts use Plaid, MX, and Mastercard (Finicity) to update balances, but cost basis, allocations, and transactions need to be entered manually for an accurate plan. The free Basic plan includes 100+ inputs, two interactive explorers, 10+ charts, and up to five AI questions daily. PlannerPlus costs $144/yr after a 14-day trial and adds account linking, tax projections, multiple scenarios, and other tools. Boldin Advisors is listed at $3,200 flat fee. The service is available on Android, iOS, and web. Support options include classes, coaching, chat, a community, financial education, and CFP® professionals; trial users receive technical help but not coaching or step-by-step setup assistance.

RetireePlan

RetireePlan is a free, self-hosted retirement planning app built for Canadians to model finances, compare scenarios, and examine tax outcomes. Its deterministic engine projects income, expenses, account growth, withdrawals, and taxes year by year; Monte Carlo runs use 1,000 trials and can apply normal, log-normal, or historical-bootstrap returns. Canadian tax modeling covers federal and provincial brackets, CPP/QPP, EI, OAS/GIS clawback, pension splitting, and RRIF minimums. A rule-based engine ranks recommendations and assigns dollar values, including possible RRSP meltdown opportunities, OAS clawback avoidance, and TFSA use. Users can model rental properties, principal-residence exemptions, probate, and beneficiary designations, and compare named scenarios. RetireePlan can import YNAB categories and transactions, and its context-aware AI assistant can use local Ollama or GitHub Copilot. It runs on the web or through desktop installers for macOS, Windows, and Linux; Docker containers support self-hosting. Reports export to multi-scenario PDF or annual CSV. The maker says users can run it on their own hardware without sharing data. It is a modeling tool, not financial advice, and tax figures are illustrative.
