Overview

Clients can browse barber profiles and filter by distance, price, reviews and other criteria, then choose a service and appointment time and confirm a booking through the app or website. That connects discovery with scheduling, which is useful for barbers who want prospective clients to find them as well as existing clients to book. Barbers who do not need discovery may find the free booking tools more compelling than those who depend on it.

Key features

Booking and barber tools

Barbers can manage services, hours, prices, appointments, cancellation policies, client messages and notes. An online booking page, client mobile app, recurring bookings and email and SMS reminders support both new appointments and repeat visits. The feature set covers routine booking work, but client discovery has a separate cost on FREE, so the plan choice matters for anyone counting on it to attract clients.

Shop management and payments

The free Shop plan includes staff and shop management, multiple locations and booth-rent tracking. Owners can manage barbers, locations, team schedules and shop profiles, making it a useful option for organizing a shop without a monthly plan charge.

In-app payment methods include Apple Pay, Cash App Pay and Google Pay. Payment-processing transactions carry a flat 2.75% fee. Standard deposits go to a connected bank account in 1–2 business days; instant deposits can arrive within minutes when supported. Verification can take up to 48 hours and may take longer in some cases, so payment setup may need lead time.

Pricing

The model is freemium, with a 30-day trial. FREE costs 0.00 USD per month and includes client booking, with payment processing at 2.75% and client discovery at $10 per client. It is the low-commitment choice for barbers who mainly need booking or are comfortable paying for discovery per client; the per-client charge makes costs less predictable when discovery is active.

Shop costs 0.00 USD per month and includes shop and staff management, multiple locations and booth-rent tracking. It fits owners seeking those management tools without a monthly plan charge.

PRO costs 25.00 USD per month and includes client booking, payment processing at 2.75%, client discovery and client blasts. It is the more straightforward fit for barbers who rely on discovery and prefer it included rather than charged per client. Payment processing still carries its fee, and the plan details do not state a seat limit or a client-blast quota.

Platforms

theCut runs on Android, iOS and the web. Clients can book through the app or website, and the product also provides a client mobile app and online booking page.

Who it's for

Independent barbers who want both discovery and booking have the clearest reason to choose theCut, particularly if PRO's monthly price makes more sense than paying for discovery per client. Shop owners may also value the free Shop plan for staff, location and booth-rent management. It is less suited to a barber who wants discovery without a subscription or per-client charge, or to a shop seeking a cost structure based on a published seat limit.

Pros and cons

Pro: Discovery leads directly into booking, with filters and appointment selection in the same service.
Pro: The free Shop plan includes multiple locations and booth-rent tracking, not just staff scheduling.
Pro: Recurring bookings, reminders and client notes support ongoing client relationships.
Con: FREE charges $10 per client for discovery, which can make costs rise with discovery use.
Con: Payment-processing transactions carry a 2.75% fee, and verification may take longer than 48 hours in some cases.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see Barbershop Scheduling Software.

Nearcut is worth considering if its free plan's client-paid booking charge, refunded when the client cancels, better fits your preferred payment arrangement.

Pronto may suit a salon or shop that needs a desktop or self-hosted option and can work within the free plan's limits of 1 staff, 100 clients and 50 bookings per month.

Barberly is another paid option, with plans priced per barber per month for teams of 1 or 5+ members.

Phorest is a paid alternative with no free plan or free trial and plans offering unlimited devices and staff.

Reservio offers a free plan capped at 40 bookings per 30 days and 100 clients, a possible fit for a smaller booking volume.

StyleSeat is worth comparing if a paid plan with unlimited bookings and calendar, up to 15 chairs and no contract suits your business.

Barbs offers a free plan for one barber with queue, walk-in and POS tools, plus 15 online bookings per day.

Booksy is a paid option at 29.99 USD per month plus tax, with an additional-user charge and payment processing and hardware excluded.

Verdict

Choose theCut if you are a barber who wants discovery and booking together, or an owner who needs shop and booth-rent management. Its strongest advantage is carrying clients from profile search into appointments while giving owners useful free management tools. Look elsewhere if per-client discovery charges or the 2.75% processing fee do not suit your costs.
