In their own words
BPS Super Mario Bros. 2 Patcher
BPS Super Mario Bros. 2 Patcher is a free web page for applying a BPS patch to a Super Mario Bros. 2 ROM. It provides separate upload controls for an SMB2 ROM and a BPS patch, then an Apply patch button. The page validates both files and shows invalid-file messages when they are rejected. It supports only the NTSC version; the page says an invalid ROM may be a bad dump or the wrong region. During validation, the code checks iNES 1.0 and iNES 2.0 headers and can swap them as needed. It recognizes ROM and patch checksums for revisions 0 and A, and can apply a revision conversion patch. After patching, the script saves a .nes file named from the patch filename. The project links to GitHub source code containing BPS handling, ROM and hash code, revision patches, scripts and styles. The page credits Marc Robledo for Rom patcher JS.
IUBPatchLib
IUBPatchLib is a free modern C++ library for applying binary patches, with ROM hacks as a stated use case. It supports IPS, UPS, and BPS formats and works on Windows, Linux, macOS, and other POSIX systems. The API uses RAII and move semantics, while the core library has no external dependencies. Developers can build shared or static libraries with CMake and integrate the project using find_package, pkg-config, or FetchContent. Optional memory-mapped I/O is available for file processing. The included iubpatch-cli can apply patches, display patch information, and validate patches. Patch options include checksum verification and backup creation. Tests and command-line tools are enabled by default in the build options; examples and benchmarks are disabled by default. The project is released under the MIT License, which provides the software as-is without warranty. The maker invites contributions through issues or pull requests and says changes are reviewed when tests pass.
