In their own words
BracketView
BracketView is a JSON workspace for viewing, formatting, validating, querying, and comparing JSON in a browser or desktop app. It provides text, tree, graph, node-card, and nested-table views, as well as Stats and JQ tools. Users can query JSON with JSONPath expressions or jq running in the browser through WebAssembly. Validation supports OpenAPI definitions and custom JSON Schema rules, and the workspace can generate types for TypeScript, Python, Go, Rust, and more. Webhook Tester captures requests from services such as Stripe, GitHub, and Shopify. Core formatting, validation, comparison, and visualization run in the browser; optional AI, snapshots, and webhook capture may send or store data on BracketView servers. AI features may send JSON or an excerpt to Groq and/or Google Gemini through those servers. The desktop app runs core tools offline and opens local files up to 200 MB. Web uploads are limited to 5 MB on Free and 50 MB on Pro. The Free plan is $0 forever; paid plans start at $2.25/mo (annual).
gron
gron is a free, open-source command-line utility that turns JSON into separate assignments with visible paths. This representation helps users grep values in large or deeply nested JSON, including responses from poorly documented APIs. Input can come from a file, URL, or standard input. The --ungron option converts assignments back into JSON, while --json emits a JSON stream. Other options provide value-only output, colored or monochrome display, line-by-line streaming, insecure certificate handling, and sorting control. The output is valid JavaScript, and the project demonstrates comparing JSON files by diffing their gron output. If array entries are missing, ungron inserts null values to preserve keys. gron has no runtime dependencies. Installation instructions cover binary downloads, Homebrew, and Go install. It runs on Linux, macOS, and Windows; plan information also lists FreeBSD binaries. The repository uses the MIT license.
