Overview

MeasureSquare is trade-focused estimating and project-management software for flooring, countertop, stone, and specialty-trade businesses. It is strongest for teams that need to turn plans and field measurements into estimates and proposals; its Windows-only desktop plans and per-user pricing make platform fit and seat count important decisions.

Founded in Pasadena in 2001, the company serves contractors, estimators, sales teams, and project managers. MeasureSquare 8 handles flooring takeoff, material and labor calculations, and proposals, while the broader product range adds mobile field work, CRM connections, and a Cloud API. See our Flooring Contractor Software and Construction Takeoff Software directories for more options.

Key features

Takeoff and field estimating

MeasureSquare 8 connects plan measurements to material and labor calculations, then to proposals. That is a useful fit for estimators who want those steps in one trade-oriented workflow rather than a takeoff tool alone. MeasureSquare Mobile adds laser-device measurement, onsite proposals, tile-texture rendering, and cloud sync, supporting sales and estimating work away from the office.

The Mobile Multi-family plan imports up to five pages of floor plans for takeoff. That cap may suit smaller drawing sets, but teams handling larger plans should weigh it before choosing the mobile option.

Commercial, stone, and connections

The Commercial edition adds AI-powered takeoff and a plan analyzer that can summarize, extract information from, and chat about blueprints. These tools target commercial plan review, though they are specific to that edition. Stone Commercial is more specialized: it imports PDF, CAD, and image plans and adds slab layout optimization, virtual dry lay, and shop drawing generation.

MeasureSquare CRM connects with the company's takeoff products, QuickBooks Online, Xero, Gmail, and Outlook. The Cloud API uses REST APIs to connect estimation data and synchronize takeoffs, estimates, and project data. MeasureSquare describes using it to connect the Mobile product catalog with Asana, a useful example for businesses building a wider workflow around their estimates.

Storage, support, and cancellation

A one-license subscription includes 5GB of job-file storage, and MeasureSquare says its cloud technology is based on Microsoft Azure. Program updates are usually quarterly; technical support is available by phone or email. There is no contract or setup fee, but cancelling does not refund the current billing period, so a change of plan does not recover the remaining paid time.

Pricing

MeasureSquare is paid, with plans billed per user per month. The entry price is $54/user/mo. Each of the prices below is for one user and billed monthly:

Plan	Price	Platform and fit
MeasureSquare Mobile Retail	54.00 USD per month	iOS and Android; in-store sales and onsite consultations
MeasureSquare 8 Retail	54.00 USD per month	Windows only; residential and showroom estimates onsite
MeasureSquare Mobile Multi-family	87.00 USD per month	iOS and Android; onsite multiarea and multifloor estimating
MeasureSquare 8 Multi-family	164.00 USD per month	Windows only; blueprint-based residential and light commercial projects
MeasureSquare 8 Commercial	197.00 USD per month	Windows only; high-volume commercial bids

The two Retail plans share the same price but suit different settings: Mobile Retail is for field and store consultations, while MeasureSquare 8 Retail is Windows-based. The Mobile Multi-family plan costs less than its MeasureSquare 8 counterpart, but carries the five-page floor-plan import cap. The higher-priced desktop tiers serve larger or more complex estimating work, with Commercial adding the AI tools. Since prices are per user, expanding a team raises the monthly cost with each seat. A free plan and free trial are offered, but their caps and trial length are not defined here; confirm their terms before relying on them. Cancellation carries no contract penalty, but the current billing period is nonrefundable.

Platforms

The product range spans Android, iOS, web, Windows, and an API, but those options are not interchangeable across plans. The Mobile plans run on iOS and Android; the MeasureSquare 8 plans are Windows only. Check the specific product and device requirements against the team's workflow before choosing, particularly if staff need to move between desktop estimating and field work.

Who it's for

MeasureSquare is best suited to flooring and related trade businesses that need plan takeoff, estimating, and field proposals, with options for retail, multifamily, commercial, and stone work. Mobile Retail fits consultations and sales on site; MeasureSquare 8 Retail fits Windows-based showroom and residential estimates. Multi-family plans suit multifloor work, while the Commercial edition is aimed at high-volume bids. Teams working with large drawing sets on the Mobile Multi-family plan, or businesses seeking a single platform on every device, should look closely at its page cap and plan-specific platform split.

Pros and cons

Trade-specific estimating: Takeoff, material and labor calculations, and proposals align in a workflow built around flooring and related trades.
Field capability: Mobile supports laser measurement, onsite proposals, tile-texture rendering, and cloud sync, helping teams carry estimating work to consultations.
Specialized options: Commercial adds AI plan analysis, while Stone Commercial addresses slab layout and shop drawings.
Integration paths: CRM connections and a REST-based Cloud API can link estimates and project data to other business systems.
Per-user cost and platform split: Plans start at 54.00 USD per month for one user, but adding seats increases the bill, and the desktop MeasureSquare 8 plans are Windows only.
Mobile Multi-family drawing cap: Its takeoff import limit of five pages may constrain teams with larger floor-plan sets.
Nonrefundable current period: Cancellation ends the subscription without a contract, but does not return payment for the active billing period.

Alternatives

Choose FloorWizard if macOS support matters alongside web and Windows access; its price requires contacting sales. QFloors costs 89.00 USD per month for a calculator estimate based on one user, with price varying by users, add-ons, training, integrations, and business needs, so it is worth comparing if that pricing structure better matches your operation. HomeArize offers a free plan and a web-based Entry plan at 17.00 USD per month, with additional users at 12.00 USD per month, 10GB storage, and 1000 marketing emails; it may suit readers prioritizing a lower-cost web option and those stated allowances.

RFMS is another paid option spanning Android, iOS, web, Windows, and API. Floorbase is web-based and offers a Floorbase Installer plan at 59.00 USD per month, with crews and helpers included without per-person seats; that structure may appeal to businesses focused on installer coordination. FloorIQ has a web free plan limited to five projects and a Pro plan at 500.00 USD per month for up to 10 users, making it a different choice for teams comparing a capped free tier with company-level pricing. RollMaster offers Android, iOS, web, and API access; its RM Text Alert plan is 99.00 USD per month for 1,000 texts, one text-only phone number, and one dashboard. GoBuild offers an Everything plan with unlimited jobs, every feature, and the whole crew included, with a quote after a demo.

Verdict

Choose MeasureSquare if your flooring or related-trade business needs estimating tied closely to takeoff and field proposals, and its product-specific platform and per-user costs fit the team. Its strongest case is the combination of trade-focused estimating with mobile and specialized commercial or stone tools. Look elsewhere if the five-page mobile takeoff cap, Windows-only MeasureSquare 8 plans, or per-seat billing conflicts with how your business works.
