Overview

Teams can generate tests from documented test cases, then correct or build them with plain-English instructions. That gives QA and development teams a less code-centric way to create and refine coverage, including fast-moving startups. It does not test games, which rules it out for game QA.

The main decision is privacy: the free public plan exposes tests and results through a shareable URL. Teams testing private applications need a private plan instead.

Key features

Web testing: Coverage spans more than 3,000 browser and device combinations across multiple operating systems, with cross-browser testing. That breadth suits teams supporting varied web environments.
Mobile and desktop: Native and hybrid mobile testing includes physical devices through partners, while native desktop testing extends coverage beyond the browser.
Broader workflows: API testing and mocking, email and 2FA tests, SMS and phone-call validation, data-driven tests, and downloaded-file validation address checks that go beyond interface behavior.
Integrations: Jira, TestRail, Zephyr, XRay, GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI, Azure DevOps, BrowserStack, LambdaTest, and Twilio connect testRigor to issue tracking, test management, CI, browser testing, and communications workflows.
Privacy and compliance: The homepage says testRigor does not record or store users’ or companies’ private data. Its Trust Center provides GDPR, HIPAA, ISO/IEC 27001, and SOC 2 Type 2 compliance resources; access to reports requires signing an MNDA.

Pricing

testRigor is freemium, with a free plan and a 14-day trial. The central tradeoff is between a capable public starting tier and paid private testing.

FREE - PUBLIC — 0.00 USD per free: Free forever, public open source, and unlimited test cases. Tests and results are public and shareable by unique URL, so this is suitable for public projects, not confidential test suites. Support is StackOverflow only.
Private Linux Chrome — 300.00 USD per month: From $300 / month, with private tests, Linux Chrome only, AI-based test generation and execution, and a 14-day trial. It is the defined-price private option, but its single platform makes it a narrow fit for teams that need broader environment coverage.
Private Complete: Custom pricing, with a 14-day trial. It covers Ubuntu, Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, and Windows Native, along with all AI capabilities. This is the more suitable private tier for teams needing multi-platform coverage.
Enterprise: Custom pricing with personalized enterprise offers. Enterprise support is via Slack or MS Teams; choose it if that support channel and an enterprise offer fit your organization.
Public Open Source: Price not listed. Tests and results are public and shareable by unique URL; it carries the same key privacy tradeoff as the free public tier.

Private Complete and Enterprise support differ from the public tier’s StackOverflow-only support: Private Complete includes standard support, while Enterprise offers Slack or MS Teams-based support.

Platforms

testRigor supports Android, iOS, web, API, extension, Linux, macOS, Windows, and self-hosted environments. The platform breadth is useful for teams testing across application types, although the $300 monthly private plan is limited to Linux Chrome.

Who it's for

Developers and QA teams that want to write or refine tests in plain English, especially fast-moving startups checking essential application functions, are the clearest fit. Teams with web, mobile, desktop, API, messaging, or email workflows can draw on its wider test scope. It is a poor fit for game testing, and the free plan is unsuitable where tests or results must remain private.

Pros and cons

Pro: Plain-English test creation from documented cases can reduce dependence on code-centric test authoring.
Pro: More than 3,000 browser and device combinations plus mobile, desktop, API, and communication checks support broad application coverage.
Pro: The public plan allows unlimited test cases without a charge.
Con: Public tests and results on the free tier make it unsuitable for confidential projects.
Con: The $300 monthly private tier supports Linux Chrome only; broader private platform coverage requires custom pricing.
Con: Game testing is not supported.

Alternatives

Consider these alternatives based on their stated plans and platform coverage:

Maestro is worth considering for teams seeking a free, local open-source option that runs on their own devices, with Android, iOS, Linux, macOS, web, and Windows support.
Katalon Studio is an alternative for teams considering low-code and full-code authoring with web, mobile, and desktop coverage; it has a free plan and a paid model.
TestCafe is a free, open-source test runner for readers who want that model instead.
Cypress may suit teams wanting a freemium option with a free Starter tier that includes 10 users, 500 test results per month, and 100 prompt executions per month.
TestMu AI Web Automation (formerly LambdaTest Web Automation) is another freemium option, with a free tier that includes 100 lifetime minutes and two parallel web and mobile automation sessions.
Squish is a paid alternative with a free trial and no free plan.
Test IO is a paid alternative offering custom packages based on your needs.
ACCELQ is a freemium alternative with a free plan and trial, and stated coverage for web, mobile, and API automation.

Verdict

Choose testRigor if your development or QA team wants plain-English test authoring with wide web, mobile, desktop, and API coverage. Its strongest case is the combination of natural-language workflows and broad testing scope; its clearest drawback is that a useful private multi-platform setup sits behind custom pricing, while the free tier exposes tests and results.
