DeploymentDocker Compose is positioned for development and lightweight deployments, while Helm on Kubernetes is the production option.Unleash Enterprise is offered as hosted cloud, self-hosted, or hybrid, with a hosted private instance available as an Enterprise add-on.
ExperimentationBucketeer uses Bayesian probabilities for A/B testing and says this can produce results with smaller sample sizes.Variants carry weights and payloads for A/B or multivariate experiments with user stickiness.
Feature flagsFlags can enable or disable functionality in real time without deploying new code.Flags belong to projects and can have different activation strategies in each environment.
IntegrationsDocumented integrations include Slack notifications and Firebase Cloud Messaging push updates.Official integrations include Datadog, Jira Cloud, Microsoft Teams, ServiceNow, Slack and generic webhooks; community integrations include Fastify, Quarkus, Vue and New Relic.
LicenseThe repository is distributed under the Apache License 2.0.The main source repository uses AGPLv3 from version 8 onward; earlier source versions used Apache 2.0 and official open-source Docker images remain Apache 2.0.

In their own words

Bucketeer

Bucketeer is an open-source, self-hosted feature flag platform intended to reduce deployment lead time and release risk. Teams can switch features on or off without deploying code, and use dark launches and staged rollouts based on user attributes, devices, and segments. Controls also include progressive rollouts, reusable segments, date-based targeting, flag rules, and prerequisites between flags. For A/B testing, Bucketeer uses Bayesian probabilities and says this can provide results with smaller sample sizes. Automated operations can schedule flag changes, react to event rates, or use webhooks for CI/CD or APM integrations such as Datadog, New Relic, and Dynatrace. Integrations also include Slack notifications, Firebase Cloud Messaging updates, a RESTful HTTP API, and OpenFeature compatibility. Governance features include environment-level Viewer, Editor, and Owner roles, audit logging, separate client, server, and public API keys, and environment isolation. Client SDKs cover Android, iOS, Flutter, JavaScript, React, and React Native; server SDKs cover Go and Node.js. Deployment options include Docker Compose and Kubernetes with Helm. The HTTP API is labeled Alpha.

Unleash

Unleash is a feature management platform for controlling software behavior and releases in production without redeploying code. Teams can stage progressive rollouts, roll back instantly, apply release templates, and use kill switches. Its experimentation tools include A/B/n testing, flag variants, user segmentation, and stickiness. Flags are evaluated in SDKs or at the edge rather than on the Unleash server. The service lists more than 25 SDKs, including options for Node.js, Java, Go, Python,.NET, React, Android, and iOS. Listed integrations include Slack, Teams, Datadog, Jira, webhooks, and Admin, Frontend, and Client APIs. The free Open Source instance allows no seat limit but is restricted to one project, two environments, and 5,000 flags; it lacks SSO, SCIM, granular RBAC, change-request approvals, and a support SLA. Pay-As-You-Go costs $75 a month, billed monthly, and has a 14-day trial without a credit card. Enterprise can be hosted, self-hosted, or hybrid, with US or EU data residency available.
