In their own words
BuddySOS
BuddySOS is an Android and iOS app for groups that combines real-time location sharing, boundary alerts, and one-tap SOS. An SOS alerts members of the active group with the sender's live GPS location, including when the phone is locked. It can also text emergency contacts a live-location link through Twilio, and recipients do not need the app. Safe zones alert the group when a member enters or leaves; each zone must have a radius of at least 100 meters, and a group can have up to five. The free plan costs nothing and includes one group, one safe zone, and ads. BuddySOS Pro is $1.99 a month and removes ads while allowing more groups and zones. The maker says it shares location only with group members, does not sell it, and does not keep location history. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, but not end-to-end encrypted. Sign-up uses a phone number and text-message code; listed availability currently includes US, Canada, UK, and EU numbers.
OtoZen
OtoZen is a family location-sharing and driving-safety app for Android and iOS. When location sharing is enabled, family members can view a driver's live location, speed, posted speed limit, and estimated arrival time during a trip. Other features include places alerts, speeding and phone-use alerts, past drives, SOS response, and student-driver logs. Trip reports and Drive Scores provide driving insights, while weekly drive-score reports are a premium feature. Automatic crash response can connect supported users in the USA with a trained agent who coordinates with local emergency services; student-driver DMV logs are also available only in the USA. Users control who can see their location and arrival time, and can stop sharing or change visibility for a person. OtoZen says trips and other listed drive and commute information are stored on the mobile device, not in the cloud. It says it does not share user data with advertisers, police, or insurance companies; its privacy policy also allows sharing with service providers such as Firebase. The Free Plan is free. Family Plan is $49.99 a year, and Family Plus Plan is $64.99 a year.
