In their own words
ByteChef
ByteChef is an open-source platform for building AI agents, automating workflows, and connecting SaaS tools, APIs, and databases. Its visual editor provides drag-and-drop construction, flow controls, execution previews, and real-time testing. Workflows can include AI agents configured with models, tools, memory, knowledge bases, and guardrails. ByteChef lists 277 pre-built integrations across areas such as CRMs, communications, databases, file storage, and AI providers; APIs without a connector can be reached through its HTTP Client action. It runs in ByteChef Cloud or on users’ infrastructure, with self-hosting options including Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and DigitalOcean. The Community Edition core and every connector use the Apache 2.0 license. Starter costs $23 per month for 5,000 tasks, one workspace, and seven-day log retention. Growth costs $135 per month for 5,000 tasks, three workspaces, and 30-day retention. Some capabilities, including role-based access control and single sign-on, are marked as coming soon.
Make
Make is a visual platform for integrating apps and automating workflows. Its no-code builder uses drag-and-drop modules, and automations can also be created in code or from a prompt. Scenarios support conditional flow control, data manipulation, HTTP requests, webhooks, notes, and analytics. Make lists more than 3,000 pre-built apps and integrations, along with custom apps and connections to public APIs. AI options include agents, tools, Maia natural-language automation building, and more than 300 AI app integrations. Each scenario action consumes credits, with some AI-provider features using more. The Free plan costs nothing and includes up to 1,000 credits monthly, two active scenarios, and a 15-minute minimum scheduled-run interval; it has no time limit and requires no credit card. Core is listed at $9 a month. Android and iOS apps can monitor phone events and perform device actions. Make lists GDPR, SOC 3, and SOC 2 Type II compliance, encryption, and single sign-on. It was founded in 2015 and is part of Celonis.
