In their own words
Caesium Image Compressor
Caesium Image Compressor reduces digital pictures for storage, sending, and sharing, with desktop and online options. The maker says compression can reach 90% without visible quality loss. Desktop tools include a real-time preview, batch processing, resizing, metadata storage options, and folder structure support. Supported formats are JPG, PNG, WebP, and TIFF; both compression modes are available. The online compressor works without a dedicated download, states images never leave your device, and offers a lossless mode that preserves image quality completely. It accepts up to 10 files at once, with a 20 MB limit per file. Caesium also provides command-line tools for image compression. The free software is listed for Linux, macOS, web, and Windows. The current Windows desktop version is v2.8.5 for Windows 10 build 1809 or later, with installer and portable downloads. The macOS version supports macOS 12 or later. Linux users can compile the source or obtain a third-party build; the project README reports testing on Ubuntu 22.04 and Manjaro.
imgproxy
imgproxy is a self-hosted HTTP server that transforms images on demand using a source URL and processing options. It can resize, crop, trim, rotate, pad, watermark, apply filters and color adjustments, and chain processing steps. Sources include HTTP(S), local files, Amazon S3-compatible storage, Google Cloud Storage, Azure Blob Storage, and OpenStack Swift. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, JPEG XL, GIF, SVG, ICO, HEIC, BMP, TIFF, and animated GIF and WebP. Optimization can remove metadata and ICC profiles, quantize PNGs, and serve WebP, AVIF, or JPEG XL when a browser supports the format. imgproxy can run in Docker, Kubernetes with Helm, cloud environments, or on a local machine. Security options include signed URLs, authorization headers, source and file-size limits, dimension checks, URL expiration, and SVG sanitization. Pro adds video, PDF, and Photoshop previews, advanced compression and watermarking, object detection and cropping, automatic format selection, and priority support. The open-source version uses the MIT license. A free plan and 14-day trial are listed; Pro starts at $49 a month.
