In their own words
Cap
Cap is an open-source screen recording and sharing platform with Instant, Studio, and Screenshot modes. Instant Mode uploads as recording happens and copies a share link when recording stops. Studio Mode records locally in 4K at 60fps with separate screen, camera, and microphone tracks, then supports editing and export. Editing tools include privacy masks, automatic zoom, captions, animated text, scenes, color grades, and audio tracks. Share pages can include comments, reactions, transcripts, and chapters; viewers can watch in a browser without an account. Users can choose Cap Cloud, connect S3-compatible storage or Google Drive, or self-host. Cap includes a Loom video importer and says its code is fully open source under AGPL. Cap Cloud is described as having SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001 controls and HIPAA compliance, with signed BAAs available for organizations handling PHI. The Free plan is for personal use; commercial use requires a paid plan. Cap Pro Annual costs $8.16 a month, billed annually.
Guidde
Guidde turns recorded workflows into video documentation for team training and knowledge sharing. It says it can generate voiceover, captions, highlights, and step-by-step scripts from those recordings, with a library of more than 200 voices and languages. Listed uses include onboarding and learning, customer support, software implementation, standard operating procedures, product demos, and AI adoption. Its Free plan provides up to 25 how-to videos, web-app capture, voiceover recording, and shareable links. Pro costs $19 per creator per month and adds unlimited videos, watermark removal, a brand kit, video, PPT, and PDF exports, and sensitive-information blur. Business is listed at $39 per creator per month, with up to five creators, web and desktop capture, unlimited text-to-voice, analytics, and advanced privacy controls. A seven-day Business trial requires no credit card, though some features such as MP4 export need an active paid subscription. After the trial, accounts that do not upgrade move to Free; videos remain, but editing is limited to the last 25. The desktop app supports Windows 10+ and macOS 11+, while phone capture works in a mobile browser without installing an app.
