In their own words
CarbonInk
CarbonInk is a free, open-source desktop tool for greenhouse-gas accounting on macOS and Windows. It runs offline, and its README says user data does not leave the device. The inventory tracks emission sources, activity data, and pinned emission factors across Scope 1, 2, and 3. AI can extract activity data from utility bills, fuel receipts, freight, travel, and purchase documents when users provide their own LLM API key. Users can fill customer or rating-agency disclosure forms from the inventory and collect supplier data for Scope 3 Category 1. The app produces an ISO 14064-1 inventory report as a PDF in one click. Pinned factors and calculation snapshots form an audit trail. A built-in MCP server exposes inventory data to Claude, Cursor, and Pi. CarbonInk is licensed under MIT. Its Free plan costs nothing, with no account, cloud service, or subscription. The README directs users to the releases page for macOS and Windows builds and says no activation key is needed.
NetNada
NetNada is an AI-powered carbon accounting and sustainability reporting platform for businesses, presented for Australian companies navigating mandatory climate disclosure. It measures Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions and maintains an audit trail. Its reporting features include AI-generated audit-ready reports for NGER, CDP, Climate Active, and ISSB. The Carbon Data Uploader accepts PDF, Excel, and CSV files, with AI-assisted column mapping and validation. A Xero integration calculates emissions automatically from accounting transactions; MYOB integration is listed as coming soon. NetNada is available through web, API, or self-hosted deployment. Plans use custom pricing, and a 14-day trial is offered; there is no free plan. Starter supports up to three users and one reporting framework, while Professional supports up to 15 users and multiple frameworks. Enterprise includes unlimited users and all reporting frameworks, alongside custom integrations, SSO and advanced security, multi-entity consolidation, and an on-premise deployment option. NetNada says customer data is encrypted, AI partners do not retain or train on it, and multi-factor authentication is required for all accounts.
