Overview

The public board combines live keyword search with filters for salary, location, and job type, without a page reload. Employers can manage jobs and applicants from a front-end dashboard, while candidates can apply, track applications, save jobs, and receive job alerts. Public company profiles collect each employer’s open roles.

This is a fuller workflow than a listings-only plugin: both employers and candidates get tools for managing the application process. The cost of that control is operating the WordPress site yourself. The plugin requires WordPress 6.9 or higher and PHP 8.1 or higher, and is distributed exclusively through wbcomdesigns.com rather than WordPress.org. It is a poor fit if you want a hosted board or need the WordPress.org distribution channel.

Key features

Pro adds a drag-and-drop Kanban hiring pipeline with stages, notes, and status tracking, plus resume building and search and custom application fields. These tools give a small hiring team more structure within its site; they are less compelling if all you need is a public vacancy board.

WooCommerce integration enables paid listings, credit packages, and featured slots, making Pro relevant to operators who want to monetize a board. AI-assisted job writing has provider options including OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, and self-hosted Ollama; the documentation says Ollama keeps data on the user’s server. Map options in Pro include Leaflet/OpenStreetMap, Google Maps, and Mapbox.

BuddyPress integration and support for Reign Theme and BuddyX Pro make the plugin a natural candidate for community sites built around those tools. Privacy integrations support personal-data export and erasure, and the free version does not set cookies. Submission forms use an always-on honeypot, with Google reCAPTCHA v3 or Cloudflare Turnstile as optional spam defenses.

Pricing

The free plan is free, forever. It includes the public board with live search and filters, employer and candidate dashboards, job posting and applications, company profiles, CSV export, and BuddyPress integration. It is a useful way to run a basic board, but omits Pro’s hiring pipeline, resume tools, custom fields, AI writing, and WooCommerce monetization.

Pro Personal costs 69.00 USD per year for 1 site. It includes everything in Free plus the ATS-style Kanban pipeline, resume builder and search, WooCommerce monetization and credits, AI-assisted job writing, and custom application fields. This is the clearest fit for a single-site operator moving beyond free listings.

Pro Developer costs 99.00 USD per year for 5 sites and adds five site licenses and priority support to Pro Personal. Pro Agency costs 199.00 USD per year for unlimited sites, with everything in Pro Developer and unlimited site licenses. Those tiers make sense for agencies or multi-site operators; their higher prices buy licensing scope and priority support rather than a different core workflow.

Lifetime options are one-time payments that never expire: Pro Personal Lifetime is 199.00 USD per once, Pro Developer Lifetime is 299.00 USD per once, and Pro Agency Lifetime is 499.00 USD per once. They suit buyers preferring a one-off license over annual billing. Every Pro purchase includes a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Platforms

WP Career Board runs as a self-hosted WordPress plugin and is also categorized for web and API platforms. Its documented requirements are WordPress 6.9 or higher and PHP 8.1 or higher. The owner remains responsible for the site and hosting, so choose another route if you do not want to maintain a WordPress installation.

Who it's for

The strongest fit is a niche job-board operator or hiring company that wants listings, employer accounts, candidate applications, and optional paid placements under its own WordPress site. Reign and BuddyPress communities can use its community integrations, while agencies and marketplaces may value the five-site or unlimited Pro licenses. It is less suited to teams seeking a managed hosted service or a plugin distributed through WordPress.org.

Pros and cons

Pros

The free plan includes employer and candidate dashboards, applications, company profiles, and live filtered search, giving operators a functional starting board.
Pro combines applicant tracking and resume tools with WooCommerce listing fees, credits, and featured slots, serving both hiring workflow and board revenue needs.
Five-site and unlimited annual licenses offer a clear route for developers and agencies managing multiple installations.
Privacy-tool integration, a cookie-free free version, and optional CAPTCHA services give operators practical privacy and spam controls.

Cons

WordPress 6.9 or higher and PHP 8.1 or higher are required, excluding older installations until they are upgraded.
Self-hosting and exclusive distribution through wbcomdesigns.com put site maintenance and plugin acquisition outside the WordPress.org channel.
Applicant tracking, resume tools, and paid-board features require Pro, so the free plan will not suit operators who need those workflows.

Verdict

Choose WP Career Board if you want to operate a job board on WordPress and value its combined employer, candidate, and Pro monetization workflows. Its free tier makes a capable starting point, and Pro adds meaningful hiring tools. Look elsewhere if you want a hosted service, cannot meet its WordPress and PHP requirements, or prefer WordPress.org distribution.
