Overview

Upload a JPG or PNG photo of up to 8MB, choose from more than 34 cartoon styles, review a protected preview, then unlock the full-resolution result. That gives buyers a look at the chosen direction before paying, but the web flow offers only one protected preview, so it is a limited way to compare styles or images. Cartoonie converts photos rather than generating art from text.

The service covers individual portraits, pets, and group pictures, and says it adds styles regularly. That makes it a focused option for personal image transformations, not a general-purpose image creator.

Key features

Photo processing and privacy

Cartoonie uses OpenAI as a third-party processing provider. The selected photo, style instructions, and technical request information are sent to OpenAI; Cartoonie says the request excludes your name, email, payment details, device identifier, and account credentials. It says uploaded originals are deleted from its servers immediately after generation, and that it does not retain a library of user photos.

Cartoonie also says it does not store facial-recognition data or biometric information extracted from photos, and does not create biometric identifiers or facial-recognition templates. These policies address retention and identity data, though the image and request information still go to an external AI provider.

Creation and sharing

The mobile app supports creating cartoons from selfies, group photos, and pets, then saving and sharing the results. Photo conversion is the only supported creation mode, so users who want to describe a scene instead of supplying a photo should choose another tool.

Pricing

Cartoonie is freemium. The Web preview costs 0.00 USD per free and provides one protected preview; a full-resolution unlock and additional creations require a 10-credit pack. For occasional use, the one-time packs avoid a recurring subscription: the 3 Cartoon Pack and 5 Cartoon Pack each cost 1.99 USD per once, the 10 Cartoon pack costs 4.99 USD per once, the 25 Cartoon pack costs 8.99 USD per once, and the 50 Cartoon Pack costs 12.99 USD per once. The Welcome Pack costs 3.99 USD per once, with no quantity stated.

Pack buyers pay only when they need more creations, but the free web allowance is too small for much experimentation. Cartoonie Premium Yearly costs 49.99 USD per year and includes unlimited generations for normal personal use, capped at 20 cartoons per calendar day. That suits regular personal users better than buying packs one at a time, but the daily ceiling remains relevant for batch use. Excessive use can trigger cooldowns, delays, lower-cost processing, or temporary suspension.

Platforms

Cartoonie supports Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows. Its web flow works on desktop or Android for one protected preview, and an iPhone and iPad app is available. The app adds saving and sharing alongside cartoon creation.

Who it's for

Cartoonie is best for people who want to cartoonize an existing portrait, pet photo, or group picture and prefer a one-time purchase for occasional use. The annual plan is more suitable for frequent personal creators, provided their use stays within the 20-cartoon daily limit. It is a poor fit for prompt-driven illustration or a service dedicated to commercial production: the terms restrict use of the service to personal, non-commercial use, while allowing unlocked cartoons to be used in personal or commercial projects subject to the terms and applicable law.

Support is by email. Buyers seeking purchase help should include their checkout email and relevant payment receipt.

Pros and cons

Pros: More than 34 styles and support for people, pets, and groups give photo-based users useful creative range.
Pros: A protected preview lets users see the chosen style's direction before unlocking the full-resolution result.
Pros: One-time packs give occasional users an alternative to a yearly subscription.
Cons: The free web flow allows just one protected preview, limiting free evaluation and style comparison.
Cons: There is no text-to-cartoon generation, so users must start with a suitable photo.
Cons: The service-use restriction is personal and non-commercial, despite the allowance for commercial projects using unlocked cartoons; commercial users should review the terms before relying on it.

Verdict

Choose Cartoonie if you want to transform personal photos into cartoon art, value a preview before purchase, and expect to use one-time packs or stay within the annual plan's daily personal-use cap. Look elsewhere if you need text-prompt creation, broad free experimentation, or clear service terms for commercial workflows.
