Overview

Cartoonize is a photo-editing service for turning images into cartoons, sketches, and other artwork, aimed at people who want creative effects alongside everyday image adjustments. Its range of editing tools, asset libraries, and export formats make it more than a one-effect converter, though the subscription is managed on desktop or PC rather than mobile.

Key features

Cartoonizer and sketcher effects transform photos, while painting, digital art, filters, and overlays provide other creative directions. The AI-powered toolset also includes background removal, cropping and resizing, color adjustment, text editing, drawing, and layers. That combination suits users assembling or refining an image in one place; someone seeking only a quick cartoon conversion may not need the broader editor.

The service lists more than 4 million high-resolution stock photos and over 50,000 vector graphics and icons, giving projects a substantial pool of source and design assets. Exports are available as JPG, PNG, or PDF at up to 400 DPI, useful when a project needs more than a low-resolution preview. Basic and Pro account holders may sell or otherwise commercially benefit from projects and photos they create or edit.

Cartoonize offers online and offline editing through a downloadable PWA. Its free iOS and Android apps extend access to phones, while the web platform works on Mac, Windows PC, and Linux with suitable hardware and an internet connection. A notable practical constraint for mobile users is that subscription management is limited to desktop or PC. Payments by credit and debit card are handled by Stripe.

A support center provides getting-started guidance, tips, and tutorials, alongside customer-support contact forms. The privacy policy says the service uses commercially acceptable measures to protect personal information but cannot guarantee absolute security. Deactivating an account permanently deletes saved projects and personal information, so users should preserve anything they want to keep before closing an account.

Pricing

Basic: 0.00 USD per free, with essential effects and features and no registration. This is the sensible starting point for occasional use, but it does not include the stated Pro benefits of all Pro features, all graphic collections, and unlimited projects.

Pro Annual Plan: 6.99 USD per year, billed annually at $83.88. It includes all Pro features, all graphic collections, and unlimited projects. The annual rate is the lower-cost route for users who expect to use the editor throughout the year, but commits them to annual billing.

Pro Monthly Plan: 9.99 USD per month, billed monthly at $9.99, with the same Pro features, graphic collections, and unlimited projects. It is the more flexible option for shorter-term or uncertain needs, at a higher stated price per year than the annual plan. Cartoonize has no free trial; the free Basic plan offers a way to start without a subscription.

Platforms

Cartoonize supports web, Linux, macOS, and Windows, plus Android and iOS apps. The PWA supports offline as well as online editing; desktop web use requires a suitable machine and internet connection. Mobile apps are free, but subscription controls require a desktop or PC.

Who it's for

Cartoonize is a good fit for people who want to turn photos into stylized artwork and then make further edits, use stock or vector assets, and export in common image or PDF formats. Its offline PWA option and broad desktop and mobile availability add flexibility. It is less suitable for users who need to manage a subscription entirely from a phone or tablet, or who want to deactivate an account without losing saved projects and personal information.

Pros and cons

Pros: A broad set of artistic effects sits alongside background removal, image adjustments, text, drawing, and layers, so users can do more than apply a filter.
Pros: Large listed photo and vector libraries, multiple export formats, and output up to 400 DPI support varied project needs.
Pros: Basic is free with no registration, and Pro accounts permit commercial benefit from created or edited work.
Cons: Subscription management is desktop-only, an inconvenience for users who rely on mobile devices.
Cons: Account deactivation permanently removes saved projects and personal information, requiring care before closing an account.
Cons: Pro costs 9.99 USD per month on monthly billing, while the lower 6.99 USD per year rate is billed annually at $83.88.

Verdict

Choose Cartoonize if you want a broad photo editor built around cartoon and artistic effects, with stock assets, high-resolution exports, and an offline PWA option. Its strongest case is the breadth of tools and formats in one service; look elsewhere if mobile-only subscription management or retaining saved work after account deactivation is essential.
