In their own words

CaseFox

CaseFox is legal practice software for attorneys, CPAs, consultants, and investigators managing cases, billing, documents, and time. Its practice tools include case and task management, court calendars, deadline reminders, and reports exportable to Excel. Billing covers time and expenses, one-click and batch invoicing, recurring billing, UTBMS codes, and LEDES invoices. CaseFox AI can draft and review legal documents, analyze case files and contracts, extract details and citations from uploaded files, and provide matter insights. Financial features include trust and operating accounts, IOLTA tools, ledgers, and accounting reports. Listed integrations include Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, Google Calendar, Gmail, Microsoft Office 365, Outlook, QuickBooks, Xero, PayPal, and LawPay. Mobile apps for Android and iOS support offline case work with later syncing; the web is also supported. The free Solo plan costs nothing and includes four cases and two users. Professional costs $45 a month per user; Enterprise costs $99 a month per user. CaseFox also offers one-click Excel export of time and expense entries, trust transactions, clients, cases, invoices, payments, calendar entries, and tasks.

Outlaw Practice

Outlaw Practice combines marketing, client intake, case management, billing, trust accounting, payments, and reporting in one platform for solo and small firms with 1–10 attorneys. During intake, it prompts firms to screen clients for conflicts and red flags. Campaigns and referral sources can be tracked through to the cases they produce. Starting a task starts its timer, and captured billable time is associated with the case. Billing supports hourly, flat, contingency, and hybrid arrangements. A secure client portal gives clients access to invoices, documents, and intake forms. Outlaw Payments connects payments to invoices and updates trust ledgers and receivables; operating and trust accounts can be linked through Plaid. Financial permissions can control who views financial information, takes payments, and generates invoices. The app can accept work offline and sync saved changes when a connection returns, but payments and data exports require a live connection. Firm data can be exported as CSV or JSON. The Outlaw Practice plan is $50 a month per user, billed monthly; a free trial is available, but there is no free plan.
