Overview

Chap is a household chore manager for shared routines and solo to-do lists. It suits couples, roommates and families that want rotating assignments and reminders without a free-plan cap on places or members. Its strongest case is that broad household allowance; the trade-off is that useful visibility and organization features are divided between paid tiers.

Key features

Scheduling and accountability

Chores can recur daily, weekly, monthly or yearly, or be set as one-time tasks. Assign them to a particular member or rotate them after completion, a practical way to share recurring work without manually reassigning each task. Reminders and overdue alerts bring unfinished chores back into view; member nudging is a Premium feature.

Completion tracking and progress history are paired with chore and member analytics, with weekly, monthly, bi-annual and yearly statistics. Those measures can help administrators see whether work is getting done, though the yearly Premium plan limits analytics to up to one week; full analytics are included in the monthly plan.

Household organization

Filters, grouping, sorting, colors and a calendar view help organize a growing chore list. Chap also offers preset routines, points and dark mode. Administrators can set household rules and monitor progress. The calendar, dark mode and ad removal are among the features included with monthly Premium, while the yearly plan includes chore collections with limits.

Pricing

Chap has a free plan at no cost, with unlimited places and members. That makes it a strong starting point for households that need shared assignments and chore tracking without a seat or household-count ceiling. The plan’s stated allowance does not promise every paid feature: monthly Premium adds nudging, full analytics, a full calendar, dark mode and ad removal.

Chap Premium (yearly) is 3.33 USD per year, billed annually at $39.99. It includes unlimited chores, members and places, analytics up to 1 week, and chore collections limited. It is the lower-cost paid route for users who want expanded chore capacity, but its analytics are curtailed and collections are limited.

Chap Premium (monthly) is 5.99 USD per month and includes nudging, full analytics, a full calendar, dark mode and ad removal. It is the better fit for households that rely on those visibility and organization tools. The yearly plan’s stated price is lower, but does not include the same full analytics and feature set.

Platforms

Chap runs on Android, iOS, macOS and the web, so households can use it across mobile and desktop platforms.

Who it's for

Chap is best suited to couples, roommates and families who want to distribute recurring chores, prompt members about overdue work and keep an eye on completion. Its unlimited free places and members also make it worth considering for larger households. Solo users can use it as a personal task list, though the household-oriented assignments, rules and progress tools matter less when managing tasks alone.

Pros and cons

Pro: Unlimited places and members on the free plan let households try shared chore management without a stated size cap.
Pro: Fixed or rotating assignments, multiple schedules and overdue reminders cover the core mechanics of distributing and following up on chores.
Pro: Android, iOS, macOS and web support gives households several ways to access the same chore system.
Con: The paid tiers divide features: yearly Premium limits analytics to up to one week, while full analytics and the full calendar are monthly-plan inclusions.
Con: Yearly Premium’s chore collections are limited, so users seeking the broader monthly feature set should compare the two plans closely.

Alternatives

For a broader comparison, see Chore Apps. Choose Homsy if its free household-of-two plan or free trial better fits a small household. PointUp is an alternative with a free plan capped at five active quests and three family members. Rumi is worth considering for iOS or macOS households: its free plan includes unlimited household members and current and previous week history, while older weeks drop out of sight. Tody offers a free cleaning plan with due tracking and chore assignment or rotation on Android and iOS. ChoreTrack may fit families willing to work within its free limits of two kids, ten chores, one shared family device and seven days of activity history. Flatastic is another freemium option for Android, iOS and web, with a free basic app that may show ads and a one-user Premium plan at 1.99 USD per month. KidTask is a more parent-and-child-focused option, with a free plan for one parent, one child and one-off tasks. ChoreBlaster is a web alternative whose free plan supports up to two kids and five chores per kid.

Verdict

Choose Chap if your household wants flexible chore scheduling, rotating responsibility and reminders, with no stated free-plan limit on members or places. The broad free allowance is its clearest advantage. Look elsewhere if full analytics and calendar access are central and you want them without committing to Chap’s monthly Premium plan.
