In their own words

Charios

Charios is a browser-based 2D character animation tool that applies motion-capture clips to layered character art. It can detect alpha islands in an image and export the body parts as transparent layers for rigging. Characters use a fixed 17-bone humanoid skeleton, and users can retarget bundled motion clips or import their own.bvh or.fbx files. A 3×3 animation-check grid displays nine clips at once. Exports include animated GIFs, PNG sequences, JSON, Unity prefabs, Godot scenes, and Unreal Engine actors; files are bundled and downloaded in the browser. Charios says character art stays in the browser during export. The editor requires a modern desktop browser with WebGL 2, while mobile supports project viewing and animation previews only. The Free plan includes three active projects, 30 credits per month, and 13 bundled motion-capture clips. Pro costs $20/month, Studio costs $45/seat / month, and Lifetime costs $50 one-time. Pro and Studio list unlimited projects. Charios describes its audience as indie game developers, solo artists and animators, game-jam teams, and marketing or design teams.

TheToonMaker

TheToonMaker is a browser-based 2D animation studio for turning sketches into animated episodes. Its workflow brings character uploads, script writing, storyboards, clip generation, and episode assembly into one platform. Scripts can be divided into clips lasting 3–30 seconds, then edited with cuts, audio mixing, transitions, timing controls, and preview. The platform says it preserves a creator’s line work and character identity across shots. Exports include Full HD, vertical, and square formats. Creator includes H.264 export, while Pro includes native 4K resolution and ProRes export. The free plan includes organization accounts and projects, a script editor with the ToonAI assistant, and storyboards and scene planning, but no video, voice, or image generation. Creator costs $24 a month and includes 600 GPU credits per month, one character AI training per month, up to 1080p, and commercial use. Studio and Pro list larger credit allowances and additional capabilities. Unused GPU credits expire at the end of each billing period without rollover or refunds. TheToonMaker is operated by HubTrader LLC, whose stated office is in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
