Overview

Qustodio combines website and app restrictions with scheduled downtime, activity monitoring, and location tracking. That breadth makes it a stronger fit for families who want visibility as well as limits. The free plan is a useful starting point, but protects only one device with basic features; paid plans are the practical choice for families managing several devices.

Founded in 2010, Qustodio is headquartered in Barcelona and also lists an office in Charlotte, USA. It offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on purchases. For more options, see our Parental control apps list.

Key features

Content and screen-time controls

Parents can block or limit inappropriate websites and apps, set time limits, schedule breaks, pause internet access, and establish screen-free routines. This mix is more flexible than relying on a single daily allowance: families can set boundaries around both what children access and when they use devices. Those who need only basic time limits may find the broader control set unnecessary.

Activity, location, and social monitoring

Qustodio tracks browsing, social media, location, and other activity in real time. Social monitoring covers WhatsApp, Instagram, and Line; the Premium comparison also includes TikTok, Snapchat, and X chat alerts. Calls and messages monitoring on iOS requires a Windows or Mac computer, while the panic button and certain Instagram, TikTok, Snapchat, and X alerts are Android-only. Families should weigh that platform dependence before choosing it for a particular child’s device.

Pricing

Qustodio has a free plan and two paid annual plans. The free option protects one device with basic protection features, making it suitable for trying the service on a single device, but restrictive for a household with multiple children or devices. The site invites users to create a free account and try Premium features; it does not state the trial length.

Plan	Price	Coverage	Best fit
Free	Price not listed	1 device; basic protection	A single-device starting point
Basic	72.94 USD per year, billed annually	Up to 5 devices	Families with a small set of devices
Complete	104.95 USD per year, billed annually	Unlimited family devices	Larger households or families who want no device cap

Basic keeps the annual cost lower but caps coverage at five devices; Complete costs more to remove that limit. Premium is offered with 10% off using code SMART10. Accepted payment methods are Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Google Pay, and Apple Pay, depending on location.

Platforms

Qustodio supports Windows, Android, iOS, Mac, and Kindle. Platform differences matter: iOS calls and messages monitoring depends on a connected Windows or Mac computer, and some alerts and the panic button are Android-only. It is less suitable for families whose required monitoring features must work identically across devices.

Who it's for

Qustodio is best for parents who want a combined system for content restrictions, screen-time routines, activity visibility, and location tracking. Basic suits families managing up to five devices; Complete is the straightforward option when that cap would get in the way. It is a weaker fit for anyone seeking only simple time limits or relying on a platform where a desired feature is unavailable.

Pros and cons

Broad set of controls: website and app restrictions sit alongside scheduled breaks, internet pauses, and screen-free routines.
Monitoring extends beyond browsing: real-time activity and location tracking can give parents a wider picture of device use.
Coverage scales to unlimited devices: Complete avoids a device cap for larger families.
Feature parity varies by platform: some alerts and the panic button are Android-only, while iOS calls and messages monitoring requires a computer.
Free coverage is narrow: one device and basic protection limit its usefulness for most multi-device households.

Verdict

Choose Qustodio if you want content rules, structured screen-time controls, and activity and location monitoring in one service, with a path from one device to unlimited family coverage. Its strongest reason to choose is that breadth; look elsewhere if you need a low-cost multi-device free plan or require platform-consistent monitoring features.
