Guac
Guac is an app for setting money aside toward goals such as a trip, a car, or groceries. It connects to a checking account and synchronizes transactions, then uses auto-tips and percentage-based savings to help users save in relation to spending. Users can create savings goals and custom rules, and move money between a goal and a connected checking account; withdrawals are manual. Guac’s Marketplace offers purchases that may earn cashback, and the app also offers side hustles. It is available on Android, iOS, and the web. The maker advertises a free version with savings tools and the Marketplace, plus a one-month free trial of Premium. Guac’s homepage says it does not hold customer funds, is not a bank, and is not FDIC-insured. Separately, its Google Play listing says accounts are FDIC insured up to $250,000 through FFBKC Bank, Member FDIC, with coverage applying to the failure of an insured bank. Guac’s privacy policy says it does not sell or rent personal information and encrypts communications between user devices and Guac.
