Overview

COCKPIT brings IT budgeting, cost tracking, controlling, cloud cost management and financial planning into one system. Business, IT, Finance, HR and Marketing can plan capacity and costs together, with separate reporting views for CIOs, CFOs and business units. That breadth is useful when IT spend needs to be coordinated across departments, but it is more involved than a basic expense tracker.

ERP integration consolidates information from financial and project management systems. A web frontend and Data Collection Management system gather hardware and software usage and inventory data, helping connect the inputs used for planning with the resulting cost picture.

Key features

Custom multidimensional cost models support scenario planning, direct forecast entry, versioning and audit trails. Those controls are valuable for teams that need to compare assumptions and retain a record of changes. An integrated AI chatbot provides natural-language interaction with COCKPIT data, while role-based dashboards tailor reporting to different business roles.

Official collector documentation covers Azure, Hyper-V, Veeam, Druva Insync, MSSQL and Windows hosts. Background services expose REST APIs documented with OpenAPI 3 and Swagger UI, with OAuth2 authentication and authorization. Users can configure multi-factor authentication with OTP applications. Collector credentials are encrypted and stored locally rather than reconciled with the cloud backend, a useful boundary for organizations evaluating credential handling.

Pricing

The Free Trial is free and includes one module and one user. It offers a constrained way to assess the product, not a free operating tier.

The standard contracts include one user, with each additional full user priced at €35. The 5 year contract is €799 per year (billed €799 per month); it is the lowest listed monthly rate but demands the longest commitment. The 3 year contract is €899 per year (billed €899 per month), while the 1 year contract is €999 per year (billed €999 per month), giving buyers a shorter commitment at a higher rate. With only one included user on each, teams should account for added-seat costs before choosing a term.

Enterprise has custom pricing and includes SLA, on-premise installation, whitelabeling, SSO and individual workflows. It is the relevant option for organizations requiring those deployment and operating provisions; buyers seeking a published price or a shorter, lower-commitment entry point should compare the standard contracts carefully.

Platforms

COCKPIT supports API, Linux, self-hosted, web and Windows. Its Enterprise plan adds on-premise installation, which may suit organizations that require that deployment approach.

Who it's for

COCKPIT is a strong fit for IT finance teams and organizations coordinating budgets, forecasts and capacity across several departments, particularly when ERP and infrastructure data need to inform the same planning process. It is less compelling for a small team with a single-user need and limited planning requirements, given the contract terms and paid additional seats.

Pros and cons

Pros: Cost models combine scenarios, direct forecast entry, versioning and audit trails, supporting controlled planning rather than one-off estimates.
Pros: ERP integration, documented collectors and REST APIs provide several routes for connecting financial and operational inputs.
Pros: Enterprise includes SSO and on-premise installation alongside SLA and workflow customization.
Cons: Standard contracts include only one user; each additional full user costs €35.
Cons: The lowest listed rate is tied to a five-year contract, while the free trial is limited to one module and one user.

Alternatives

IT Financial Management Software is the broader category to browse when comparing products for this work. Consider Serviceware Performance if you want a paid option with a free trial and API, self-hosted and web platforms. Planview AdaptiveWork is another paid alternative, with Android, iOS, API and web platforms and pricing by contacting an account executive.

CostLens AI offers a paid web-based option with a free trial and no free plan. CostPerform is worth considering for a paid cloud-and-AI SaaS product whose pricing is tied to organizational cloud spend and available on request. Flexera One IT Asset Management has web and self-hosted platforms and a free plan; its paid pricing requires a demo.

KP-One is a paid web alternative. MagicOrange is a paid option with API and web platforms. Upland ComSci is a paid web alternative.

Verdict

Choose CIO COCKPIT if your organization needs coordinated IT cost and capacity planning grounded in ERP and collected usage data, with scenarios and audit trails for financial control. Look elsewhere if you need several standard-plan seats without added charges or cannot commit to a multi-year contract.
