In their own words
Cisco pyATS
Cisco pyATS is a Python framework for network testing, automation, and validation, available free under the Apache 2.0 license. It supports sanity, feature, solution, system, and scale test and verification workflows, with reusable data-driven tests ranging from simple checks to complex asynchronous suites. Genie libraries provide device connectivity, parsers, APIs, platform-agnostic feature models, reusable test cases, and a YAML-driven test runner. Built-in device libraries cover Cisco IOS, IOS XE, IOS XR, NX-OS, and ASA; plugins and extensions can add other platforms. Connections can use CLI, NETCONF, or RESTCONF. XPRESSO manages test suites, environments, testbeds, resources, live test views, and archived results with comparisons and analytics. It supports on-demand, bundled, and scheduled runs through Jenkins and Docker backends. Cisco also documents Ansible community integrations and out-of-the-box RobotFramework support. pyATS runs on Linux and macOS and supports self-hosted deployment. Cisco says more than 75% of its codebase is open source on GitHub. Email support is best-effort and usually receives a reply within a day.
LibreSpeed
LibreSpeed is a lightweight JavaScript speed test that uses XMLHttpRequest and Web Workers to measure download, upload, ping, and jitter. It supports IE11, current Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and mobile browser versions. Telemetry and result sharing are optional, and an installation with multiple test points can automatically select the point with the lowest ping. A separate stability test reports current, average, minimum, and maximum latency, jitter, failed-request percentage, threshold alerts, and CSV export. It can target a local backend, configured test points, or Google, Cloudflare, and Apple. Deployment uses a web server such as Apache, nginx, or IIS with PHP 5.4 or newer, though other backends are available. Optional result storage supports MariaDB, MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and SQLite. The project provides an Android client template, a command-line client, and a .NET client library through NuGet. Go and Rust implementations are available; the Node.js implementation is partial and not recommended. LibreSpeed is free and open source, with self-hosting and no paid plans listed.
