CiteMe vs Conch AI Citation Generator

CiteMe helps students and researchers generate citations from academic indexes and check reference details. Enter a DOI, ISBN, URL, PubMed ID, or paper title to format source metadata in styles including APA, MLA, Chicago, Harvard, Vancouver, IEEE, and ABNT; more than 10,000 CSL styles are available on demand. Reference Checker compares references with returned records and surfaces DOI, year, and title differences for review. Sources can be imported from bulk identifiers, PDFs, pasted bibliographies, Lattes CV publications, manual entries, and BibTeX or RIS files. CiteMe lists sources including OpenAlex, Semantic Scholar, CrossRef, PubMed, Europe PMC, Google Books, BASE, HAL, and arXiv. Access includes web, Chrome and Firefox extensions, a Microsoft Word add-in, Google Docs, a ChatGPT app, and an API with 40+ endpoints. The free plan is listed at free. A Thesis Pass costs $8.99, paid once for 30 days of Pro without subscription or renewal. Pro’s monthly price is not displayed.

Conch AI Citation Generator creates bibliography citations for academic papers in APA, MLA, or Chicago style. It supports websites, books, and academic journals, with entries for APA 7th edition, MLA 9th edition, and Chicago 17th edition notes/bibliography style. The standalone generator runs in a browser, and users can copy formatted citations without signing up. If author fields are empty, the citation begins with the title. The maker says citation formatting and text calculations take place locally in the browser and source details are not stored on a server. Conch’s broader writing workspace can capture cited sources and format them in APA, MLA, Chicago, or Harvard; signed-up users receive 10 free credits daily, with each action costing 1 to 4 credits. The Chrome extension works on desktop. Conch presents its platform for student study and writing, and its terms say the site is intended for users at least 18 years old. The citation generator is free without registration. Workspace plans are listed at $12 a year, $21 a month billed quarterly, or $30 a month.
