Overview

Founded in 2010, Houzz connects homeowners and home professionals with renovation and design resources and vendors. Its directory accepts submissions from both homeowners and professionals; professional profiles can receive reviews, and verified profiles are available. For a contractor or designer, that directory presence sits alongside Houzz Pro's operational tools, making the product broader than a standalone project-management app.

Key features

Houzz Pro's core workflow combines estimates, invoicing, a 3D Floor Planner, online payments, assemblies and CRM. Digital contract templates, electronic signatures, reminders and activity tracking keep agreement steps within the same service. These features suit professionals who want project and customer administration together; businesses needing the additional custom-plan capabilities should weigh those against its custom pricing.

The Web Product Clipper saves supplier-site products to a Houzz Pro product library through a browser extension, useful for keeping sourced items attached to work. The mobile app handles projects and leads, estimates, proposals, invoices, schedules, tasks, time and expenses, time clocks and daily logs. Offline project-data access is a practical safeguard when a job site loses connectivity.

Storage is unlimited for data and features, including photos, videos and documents. Integrations include QuickBooks Online, iCloud, Google, Office 365, Exchange, Outlook, Google Meet, 8x8, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, GoTo Meeting, Google Drive, Gmail, Gusto and Zapier. Zapier imports leads and projects into Houzz Pro but does not export data from it, a material constraint for teams relying on two-way automation.

Houzz transmits data over HTTPS, meets PCI-DSS standards for card payments, stores data in AWS and maintains encrypted backups. Users may request a CSV export through privacy settings. Support includes live chat, email and phone, as well as a Help Center, video tutorials, training resources and a professional forum.

Pricing

The Free Plan costs 0.00 USD per free and includes the 3D Floor Planner, estimates and invoicing. It is a sensible way to use the basic project tools without a subscription, but it omits Pro's online payments, assemblies, CRM and phone and live chat support.

Pro costs 249.00 USD per month after a 30-day free trial billed at $0/mo. It includes estimates, invoicing, the 3D Floor Planner, online payments, assemblies, CRM, and phone and live chat support. This is the fit for professionals who need those connected workflows; online payment fees are 3.5% for credit cards and 1% for ACH, so payment volume matters to the total cost.

The Advertising Package starts at $499.00 USD per month and adds preferred directory placement, lead generation and targeted advertising. It is aimed at businesses paying for visibility and lead acquisition, rather than a lower-cost way to get the Pro project toolkit.

Custom pricing covers takeoffs, project schedules, selections boards, daily logs, budgets, bid management, Google Suite integration, change orders, financial reports, marketing solutions, dedicated account support and unlimited users. This is the option for businesses needing broader project and financial controls or uncapped seats; the other plan descriptions do not state user caps.

Platforms

Houzz is available on web, Android and iOS, with a browser extension for the Web Product Clipper. The mobile app's offline access to project data makes it more practical for field work than a connected-only workflow.

Who it's for

Houzz is strongest for remodeling and design professionals who want estimates, invoices, contracts, customer management and sourcing tools together, with a local homeowner-facing directory as an added channel. The free plan may be enough for basic estimating and invoicing; businesses needing online payments, CRM or support by phone and live chat will need Pro. A business focused only on directory exposure may prefer to compare advertising costs with its expected lead value, while teams that require exports through Zapier should account for its one-way flow.

Pros and cons

Pro covers a substantial workflow: estimates, invoices, floor planning, payments, assemblies and CRM sit in one plan.
Useful field access: the mobile app includes schedules, time tracking and daily logs, and project data remains accessible offline.
No stated storage ceiling: unlimited storage includes photos, videos and documents.
Pro is a significant monthly commitment: $249.00 USD per month follows the 30-day trial, and card and ACH payment fees add transaction costs.
Zapier is one-way: it can bring leads and projects in, but cannot export Houzz Pro data.
Expanded controls mean custom pricing: tools such as budgets, bid management and financial reports are grouped in the custom plan.

Alternatives

For other directory choices, compare Business Directories. Professionals prioritizing contractor-specific workflows can also review Remodeling Contractor Software and Construction Project Management Software.

Tripadvisor is a directory alternative with a free plan and a Business Advantage plan at 99.00 USD per year. Europages offers a free company listing and paid service packages at custom pricing. For healthcare providers, Healthgrades has a free consumer service and an Elevated Profile at 49.95 USD per month.

Sulekha offers a free-trial lead option that requires business profile verification, with lead availability varying by category and paid-partner priority. Wheree has a free app and basic business listing. Yellow Pages Canada includes a free business listing with profile management, deals and analytics. The Real Yellow Pages offers a free business listing for managing a listing and posting a job opening. WebMD Physician Directory provides a free basic provider profile covering insurance, credentials and conditions treated.

Verdict

Choose Houzz if you are a remodeling or design professional who values a homeowner-facing directory and wants estimates, invoicing and project administration in one service. The free plan makes core estimating and invoicing accessible, while Pro adds the more connected workflow. Look elsewhere if $249.00 USD per month and transaction fees do not fit your budget, or if your integrations depend on exporting data through Zapier.
