In their own words
Clavio
Clavio is a web-based AI data analysis platform that turns plain-English questions about business data into analysis, charts, explanations, and reports. Its analysis tools include profiling, statistical tests, regression, clustering, anomaly detection, causal methods, forecasting, sentiment analysis, and multi-step agent investigations. Users can inspect source fields, transformations, assumptions, diagnostics, and generated code associated with results. Listed data sources include PostgreSQL, MySQL, BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, SQL Server, SQLite, MongoDB, ClickHouse, and Supabase, as well as APIs, cloud storage, spreadsheets, files, and selected public datasets. Database queries are limited to SELECT, WITH, or EXPLAIN, with default results capped at 10,000 rows and 5 MiB. CSV and Excel uploads are parsed in the browser; Clavio says file contents do not touch its server. It also says AI providers receive schema, column statistics, and the question, not data rows. Sign-in uses passwordless email, with optional TOTP two-factor authentication. Owners and admins can review and export an organization-scoped append-only audit log. Free access is available; Pro costs $19 a month and Team costs $49 per user per month.
Hex
Hex is a hosted data platform for exploring data, asking questions, and building data applications through notebooks and conversational self-service. It supports SQL, Python, and R, with real-time collaboration and version history. Users can connect data warehouses and local TXT, CSV, JSON, Parquet, Avro, and XLSX files, as well as metadata, semantic-layer, catalog, machine-learning, and workflow tools. Airflow, Dagster, and dbt integrations can trigger analytical flows and app runs from data pipelines. Hex says its agent grounds answers in organizational context and can connect with Claude, Codex, Cursor, Slack, MCP, a CLI, APIs, or custom agents. Users can build apps from prompts, with code underneath and controls for the finished app. Context Studio and Evals provide visibility into topics, trends, and warnings about answer quality. Community is free; Professional costs $36 a month per Editor, and Team costs $75 a month per Editor. Community and Professional allow up to five published apps, while Team and Enterprise allow unlimited published apps. A 14-day trial is listed.
