In their own words
ClipGrab
ClipGrab is a free video downloader and converter for Windows, macOS, and Linux. It supports downloads from YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, Facebook, and other online video sites, then converts videos to MPEG4, MP3, WMV, OGG Vorbis, or OGG Theora. Some videos can be kept in their original format. ClipGrab says its recognition system may work on thousands of other sites, and it includes YouTube video search; YouTube downloads are supported up to 1080p. The maker says Facebook videos, including private ones, can be downloaded in HD or standard definition. The Linux version is GPLv3-licensed open-source software and is offered precompiled or as source code. Windows installers are available with or without third-party offers; the installer with offers is operated independently by dotInstaller and TheCassiniLabs. ClipGrab cannot run on iOS devices, though the site suggests downloading on a PC or Mac and transferring the video. Its support FAQ notes that unreliable or unavailable internet can cause download failures and advises updating when video sites change. Email support, a feedback forum, and FAQs are listed.
FlareGet
FlareGet is a download manager and accelerator for Windows, Mac, and Linux. It uses dynamic file segmentation and can download segmented files from multiple mirror sites, while checking for expired URLs. The manager supports HTTP, HTTPS, and FTP downloads, plus full Metalink support. It can resume unfinished downloads and retry failures, though FTP downloads cannot be resumed. Users can set speed limits and control simultaneous downloads, schedule transfers, and import URLs from text or HTML files for batch downloading. FlareGet lists browser integration for Firefox, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Chromium, Opera, and Safari. Its features page describes one-click Flash video downloads from YouTube in all browsers; the maker says it is available in 17 languages. The free plan is free and offers version 5.0.0 downloads for Windows, Mac, and Linux. The download page lists 5.0.0 as the stable release dated April 25th, 2020. Pro licenses are one-time payments, but prices are not shown; each covers one platform and includes free upgrades to new versions.
