Clipy
Clipy is a free, open-source clipboard extension app for macOS. It opens clipboard history with a keyboard shortcut so you can choose an item copied earlier, and it provides a separate menu for saved snippets. Default shortcuts are Shift-Command-V for the main menu, Control-Command-V for history, and Shift-Command-B for snippets. Clipy supports clipboard formats including plain text and images. Clipboard history, snippets, preferences, and related data stay on the Mac. The project says copied contents are not transmitted to its servers or third parties. Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics are enabled by default but can be disabled in Preferences. Sparkle checks for updates. Clipy requires macOS 13 Ventura or later, is released under the MIT license, and accepts donations. macOS may require Accessibility permission for paste behavior.
Pasteable
Pasteable saves copied text, rich text, HTML, images, files, URLs, and code in a searchable clipboard history. It offers full-text and on-device semantic search, including searches for images by description. Smart collections sort clips into groups such as Photos, Code, Links, Files, and Design; users can also create collections with custom rules. On desktop, ⌘/Ctrl+Shift+V opens a keyboard-driven overlay, and system-wide snippets can expand saved clips. Clip history is stored locally in SQLite, works offline without an account, and is encrypted at rest with an operating-system-sealed key. The maker says synced clips are encrypted on the device and its servers store only ciphertext. The free plan includes unlimited local history and 25 synced clips. Pasteable Pro costs $6 a month or $60 a year; Lifetime costs $80.00 USD one-time. The site lists macOS 11+, Windows 10 and 11, and 64-bit Linux, and says iOS and Android apps are in App Store and Play Store review.
