In their own words
Cloudify
Cloudify is an open-source platform for orchestrating infrastructure, cloud-native services, and distributed edge resources across multiple clouds. Its service-composition DSL models services spanning Cloudify and other orchestration domains. Cloudify Manager stores blueprints and deployments, runs workflows, and displays application topology, metrics, and logs. Plugins cover Docker, Helm, Kubernetes, and Terraform; documented integrations include AWS, Azure, Ansible, and Jenkins. CI/CD integrations are documented for Jenkins, GitHub Actions, and CircleCI. Security features include secret storage, encrypted internal communication, multi-tenancy, and role-based access control. Cloudify 6.2 release notes state ISO 27001 and ISO 27701 certification. Community and Premium can be deployed in Docker, a VM, or Kubernetes using a Helm chart; SaaS is hosted. Cloudify Community is free with no time limit, but requires Docker or a VM and cloud-provider access to run workloads. Premium has a free 60-day trial, requiring Docker, cloud access, and a valid activation license; trial functionality stops when the license expires.
Temporal
Temporal is a workflow platform for applications that need work to recover after crashes, network failures, or infrastructure outages. Workflows preserve state at each step and resume from that point. Failure-handling tools include automatic retries with backoff, timeout classes, heartbeating, and Saga compensation. Durable timers can wait for months; cron schedules support backfill, and workflows can use Continue-As-New. Signals, Queries, Updates, and Workflow Streams let users read or change workflows while they run. Teams can self-host the open-source Temporal Service or use managed Temporal Cloud. SDKs are listed for Go, Java, Python, TypeScript,.NET, PHP, Ruby, and Rust, alongside integrations for several AI tools. Temporal Cloud keeps application code and data in customer-controlled infrastructure, sending encrypted orchestration data to the service; it uses AES 256 encryption at rest and TLS in transit. The cloud service is SOC 2 Type II certified and compliant with GDPR and HIPAA. Pay-As-You-Go has no base monthly fee and includes $150 in credits for 90 days; Business costs $500 a month or 10% of usage, whichever is greater.
