In their own words
Clozemaster
Clozemaster is a language-learning service built around fill-in-the-blank sentences in context. Learners answer by selecting a choice or typing the missing word, then review sentences again through spaced practice and word-frequency progress tracking. The service lists 75 languages, thousands of sentences in more than 50 languages, and over 170 language pairings. It runs on the web, Android, and iOS, with personalized review and offline lessons. Some sentences have ChatGPT explanations by default, while others can generate an explanation when requested. Sentence and translation data comes from Tatoeba’s user-curated, CC-BY dataset, which may contain errors. The Free plan costs nothing and allows 30 sentences per day.
Talktiko
Talktiko is a language-learning platform built around short daily lessons, spaced repetition and exercises adapted to a learner’s CEFR level and progress. Its courses cover A1 through C2, and the site says advanced levels are not paywalled. It advertises 13 languages and 25 exercise types for reading, writing, listening and speaking. Other tools include a placement test, speech practice, personalized review and more than 650 text-to-speech voices, including Azure and ElevenLabs voices. Talktiko is available on the web, iOS and Android, and as an installable progressive web app. Lessons can be used offline, with progress syncing after reconnection; mobile apps also support cross-device syncing and streak reminders. Its API documentation describes REST access, webhooks, CSV exports, LTI 1.3 launches for Canvas, Blackboard and Moodle, and xAPI forwarding. The Free plan covers one language and three lessons per day. Plus Annual is $4.17 a month, billed annually; Pro Annual is $8.25 a month, billed annually.
