In their own words

ClrMamePro

ClrMamePro scans and rebuilds MAME machine sets, checking ROM, sample, and CHD files for missing, unnecessary, or incorrectly named files. Its Rebuilder matches input files against a database using hashes and size, then writes correctly named machine files to an output folder. The package includes a graphical interface and a command-line executable with Scanner, Rebuilder, and Dir2Dat functions. The tools can use a MAME executable's listxml or listsoftware export as a data source. They use 7z.dll for 7z archive support and can produce zip, 7z, or decompressed output. A suitable DatFile allows use with systems beyond MAME. There is no install wizard; users unpack the archive into a folder. Current builds run on Windows 7 and higher, while older documentation describes Linux use under WINE or similar. The software is freeware, and the copyright notice identifies Roman Scherzer as its author; he says he started clrmame(pro) in 1997. Incorrect settings or removal operations can cause data loss, so the author recommends backups.

Gaseous

Gaseous Server is a free, open-source self-hosted server for managing ROMs and game titles with basic in-browser emulation. It uses multiple sources to identify games and provide metadata. ROM management supports platforms listed by IGDB, while the built-in emulator covers a documented subset including Game Boy, Nintendo 64, PlayStation, Sega Saturn, and Super Nintendo. Installation options include Docker, source, Unraid, and a Windows MSI package. Windows installation is described as experimental. Setup requires MariaDB 11.1.2 or MySQL Server 8+ and FFmpeg; an IGDB API key is optional when using the Hasheous proxy. From version 2.0, authentication includes passwords, two-factor authentication, and OAuth2/OIDC, with Google, Microsoft, and custom OIDC providers documented. The project uses the AGPL-3.0 license and links to Discord for community support. Maintainers recommend avoiding internet exposure when remote access is unnecessary and state that exposure is at the user’s own risk. The free plan is a self-hosted server, so the operator supplies the database and FFmpeg.
