| Languages | The product page lists support for languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, SQL, Swift, and TypeScript, and says new language support can usually be added within days on request. | The site says jscpd supports 224 languages. |
| Maker | The product page identifies SAFE Corporation as the maker through its site branding and product navigation. | The site credits Andrey Kucherenko and contributors; it does not state a headquarters or founding year in the pages opened. |
| Purpose | CodeMatch compares source code files across directories and subdirectories, ranking the most highly correlated file pairs to help locate possible plagiarism. | jscpd scans source code for duplicate code and can fail a build when duplication exceeds a configured threshold. |
| Reports | CodeMatch creates a database exportable to an HTML summary report, with detailed HTML reports showing the statements, comments, strings, identifiers, or instruction sequences behind high correlations. | Reporters include HTML, JSON, XML, README badges, SARIF, CodeClimate, and OpenMetrics formats. |

In their own words
CodeMatch
CodeMatch is a Windows program from SAFE Corporation for comparing source-code files across two directories, including their subdirectories. It ranks file pairs by correlation scores from 0 to 100, helping an examiner reduce many combinations to a smaller review list. Its hybrid methods compare statements, comments and strings, instruction sequences, and identifiers. Reports can show the material behind high correlations in detailed HTML, while a database export can produce an HTML summary. SAFE lists languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Python, SQL, Swift, Verilog, and VHDL, and says requested languages can usually be added within days. The maker also describes uses such as finding open-source code in proprietary software, assessing common authorship, and identifying shared algorithms. A press release allows no-charge comparison of up to 1 megabyte of source code. CodeMatch assists expert review rather than precisely identifying plagiarism. It is paid, with a free plan and trial, but no CodeMatch price is listed.
jscpd
jscpd is a free, open-source tool for finding repeated code in repositories. It can fail a build when duplication exceeds a configured threshold, making it usable in local development and CI. The project says it supports 224 languages. Exact clones are detected by default, while renamed, near-miss, and semantic clone checks are optional; semantic detection is experimental.
Version 5 is available as a self-contained native binary that does not need Node.js, with direct macOS, Linux, and Windows binaries for x64 and ARM64. Reports include HTML, JSON, XML, README badges, SARIF, CodeClimate, and OpenMetrics. The GitHub Action can enforce a threshold and upload SARIF for GitHub Code Scanning, and GitLab CI reporters are documented. Developers can also use pre-commit hooks or Docker. A dashboard summarizes project size, duplication, complexity, dead code, and a health score. Dead-code analysis covers JavaScript, TypeScript, and Python, plus Rust when compiler diagnostics are supplied.
