In their own words
Cogni
Cogni combines study notes, AI-generated flashcards and spaced-repetition reviews. It can make editable question-and-answer or cloze cards from text, PDFs, web pages and photos of notes. Notes support headings, bold, highlights, lists and images, and cards created from a note remain linked to it. During review, learners rate cards Again, Hard, Medium or Easy; Cogni adjusts each card’s review schedule based on those ratings. Progress views show daily streaks, retention by deck, cards due tomorrow and a forecast of upcoming weeks. Cogni is available on the web and in Android and iOS apps. The mobile apps support offline review and sync reviews across web and mobile when the device reconnects. The mobile app can import Anki .apkg decks, including subdecks, cloze cards and media, but does not transfer review history. Free access includes notes, spaced repetition, device sync and Anki import, subject to a daily review limit. Cogni says it does not sell study content or personal information, use study content for third-party ads, or use notes and cards to train a Cogni model.
FlashLeap
FlashLeap is an Android and iOS flashcard app that turns study material into question-and-answer cards and schedules reviews with spaced repetition. Users can paste notes, type a topic, photograph material, or write cards by hand. AI creates cards at a chosen difficulty, and users can edit them before saving. Cards can also include photos, OCR-scanned textbook pages, voice notes, Apple Pencil sketches, math, and code blocks. Study tools include flexible modes, per-deck accuracy and study-time measures, retention curves, streaks, and streak protection. The app works offline in guest mode; an account is needed for cloud backup or syncing across iPhone and iPad. AI generation runs on a secure server, and the site says submitted text is not stored after the request finishes. The free plan includes core card creation and spaced-repetition study, five AI generations per month, and a per-device deck limit. The listed Pro annual plan costs $14.99 a year and includes unlimited decks, 100 AI generations per month, every study mode, and full analytics; a 7-day free trial is listed. Pro lifetime costs $39.99, paid once with those listed features. Payments and subscription management are handled by Apple.
