In their own words
CoinTracking
CoinTracking combines cryptocurrency portfolio tracking, analysis, and tax reporting. Its country-specific reports cover more than 100 countries, including IRS Form 8949, HMRC, and ATO reports. It supports imports from more than 400 exchanges, wallets, and blockchains through API, CSV, or blockchain addresses; its engine detects DeFi swaps, staking rewards, NFT trades, and margin positions. Portfolio tools include more than 25 customizable reports, interactive charts, and profit-and-loss reports. Additional listed tools include AI Tax Saver, a CSV File Converter, and Source of Funds, with availability varying by plan and country. Android and iOS apps sync with an existing account. The free plan provides portfolio view only, while Starter is $49 a year and includes 200 transactions. A seven-day trial with unlimited imports is listed for the Free plan. CoinTracking says user data is stored in Germany, encrypted at rest and in transit, and handled under GDPR compliance. Its exchange connections use read-only API keys that cannot trade or withdraw funds.
Dime
Dime is a free, open-source command-line tool that calculates United Kingdom cryptoasset taxes from a transaction spreadsheet. It accepts CSV data containing fields such as dates, operations, market values, assets, quantities, fees, and income, with receive, send, swap, and transfer operations. After processing, users can review figures for available tax years and see their current fiat balance. The format supports marking sent and received assets as non-fungible, including guidance for an NFT minted from multiple NFTs. Dime runs locally and stores transactions and computed figures in a SQLite database inside the user’s .dime folder. Installation documentation covers Composer, a PHAR archive, Docker, and an experimental standalone application. Composer and PHAR installations require PHP 8.2 and BCMath; Docker requires Docker and sh or Bash. The project targets people familiar with UK tax rules who want local processing.
