Overview

The course organizes 252 progressive drills into four levels and 30 chapters, giving learners a substantial route from simple patterns to advanced work. It covers simple, compound, and asymmetric time signatures, along with thirty-second notes, triplets, quintuplets, and swing eighths. That range should serve learners beyond the basics, while the clear rhythm focus leaves harmony and wider theory study to other tools.

Practice is interactive, and progress tracking helps learners follow their work. Users can also create and save custom drills, then assemble training programs to invite friends or students. This makes the app more adaptable than a fixed lesson sequence, though the strongest class-management tools sit in its teacher and school service.

Key features

Listening, reading, and writing

Five drill formats cover rhythm imitation, rhythm reading, rhythm dictation, two-voice reading, and two-voice dictation. The mix addresses both recognition and notation, with two-voice work adding practice for simultaneous parts. It is a good fit for learners who want more than rhythm-reading worksheets; those seeking harmony tools will need a different product.

Twenty-three sound banks use recorded instruments, including piano, guitar, pizzicato violin, conga, bongo, djembe, darabuka, and woodblock. The variety gives practice different timbres without changing the core focus on rhythm.

Teacher and school tools

The teacher service supports classes, leaderboards, custom programs, app customization, and student progress tracking. School class programs can contain up to 20 chapters, with up to 20 drills per chapter. Teachers and schools can buy licenses in bulk or generate custom purchase links; discounts vary by country, currency, student count, and apps selected. Email and WhatsApp support are offered, with the teacher page advising WhatsApp if email receives no response within 48 hours.

Pricing

The free plan provides the first chapter of each mode, a useful way to sample the exercises but not enough for learners who want the full progression. The full mobile app costs 6.99 USD per once, shown alongside 5.99€, as a one-time in-app purchase that unlocks the full version forever. This is the clearest fit for someone who wants Complete Rhythm Trainer alone on mobile and prefers a permanent unlock to an ongoing fee.

The Complete Music Trainer subscription costs 0.99 EUR per month and includes Complete Ear Trainer, Complete Rhythm Trainer, and Complete Music Reading Trainer. A 7-day free trial makes it a low-commitment way to try the bundle; it suits someone who wants all three apps, but costs more over time than a one-time purchase if rhythm training is the only need.

Complete Music Trainer lifetime access costs 19.99 EUR per once and includes the same three apps for lifetime access. It is the bundled choice for learners who expect to use all three over the long term. For desktop use, Complete Rhythm Trainer is included in Complete Music Trainer; that bundle has Windows and macOS downloads and runs in recent web browsers.

Platforms

Complete Rhythm Trainer supports Android, iOS, macOS, web, and Windows. Mobile downloads are offered through Google Play, the Apple App Store, Huawei AppGallery, and Amazon App Store. Desktop access comes through Complete Music Trainer, with browser use and Windows and macOS downloads.

Who it's for

Choose it if you want a progressive rhythm curriculum with listening, notation, two-voice exercises, and room to make custom practice. Teachers may find the class tools and progress tracking especially useful, while the program caps still allow substantial assignments. It is less suitable if your priority is harmony or a broader music-theory course rather than rhythm.

Pros and cons

Pros: 252 drills across four levels and 30 chapters provide a defined progression, with material spanning basic patterns through asymmetric meters and complex rhythmic values.
Pros: Five drill formats and 23 recorded-instrument sound banks give learners varied ways to practice recognition, performance, and notation.
Pros: Custom drills, class tools, and student progress tracking let teachers adapt practice beyond the preset course.
Pros: A one-time mobile unlock avoids a continuing subscription for learners who only need rhythm training.
Cons: The free plan stops at the first chapter of each mode, so continued study requires an unlock or bundle.
Cons: The product focuses on rhythm and has no harmony tools, making it a poor fit as a standalone broad theory resource.
Cons: Desktop use is through Complete Music Trainer rather than a standalone desktop download for this app.

Alternatives

Complete Music Trainer is the natural choice if you want this rhythm course bundled with ear training and music reading; its monthly subscription is 0.99 EUR per month and yearly subscription is 9.99 EUR per year. MyMusicTheory suits learners who want more than 100 free exercises and use Android, iOS, or macOS. music21 is a free BSD-licensed toolkit for Linux, macOS, web, and Windows, with possible separate restrictions on corpus works. Harmonia offers free independent practice and advanced analyzing and feedback features, with a Classroom Connect plan listed at 20.95. note-noodle, ChordIQ, Musition, and Music Master are other options to compare.

Verdict

Complete Rhythm Trainer is a strong choice for learners who want a substantial, progressive rhythm course and for teachers who need customizable class practice and tracking. Its main advantage is the combination of varied drills, advanced rhythmic coverage, and a permanent mobile unlock. Look elsewhere if you need harmony or broad theory coverage, or if desktop access without the Complete Music Trainer bundle is essential.
