In their own words

ContentTools

ContentTools is a JavaScript library for adding WYSIWYG editing to HTML pages. Developers include its CSS and JavaScript files, mark the page regions that should be editable, and configure the editor to initialize from those regions. Editing tools support inserting and converting images, videos, tables, and lists; users can drag blocks to rearrange them and resize images and videos. Undo and redo are supported without a stated limit during an editing session. Developers can define a palette of styles for eligible elements. The library is framework agnostic and extensible, and its five component libraries can be used independently. The maker describes integrations with CMS applications and web frameworks including WordPress, Yii, Laravel, and Django. ContentTools is free and MIT licensed. It does not store edited content or provide user authentication, so developers need to configure their own save mechanism. Its image-upload interface includes rotation and cropping, but the demo simulates those functions without a server-side API. Pre-built project files are available in the repository’s build folder.

Froala Editor

Froala Editor is a JavaScript WYSIWYG HTML editor for adding rich-text editing to applications. It supports paragraph formats, lists, custom paragraph styles, quotes, and special characters, alongside image uploads and editing, video embeds, file uploads, and server-side file management. Froala says it supports more than 15 frameworks and technology stacks, with integration guides for JavaScript, React, Django, Vue, WordPress, and others. The editor runs inside the customer’s application, so editor content stays on the customer’s infrastructure. Froala says it sanitizes content, filters malicious scripts, validates URLs, and supports strict Content Security Policy configurations from version 5.2. Plans list AI Assist, version history, comments, and Markdown support. A 30-day trial is available, but there is no free plan. Professional is $60 a month billed annually and covers one product and three domains; Enterprise is $117 a month billed annually with unlimited products and domains. Perpetual options cost 2159.00 USD and $4,199, paid once, respectively.
