In their own words

Convert3D

Convert3D converts 3D models between file formats, including FBX, OBJ, USDZ, and STEP; its website lists more than 1,000 possible conversions. The browser converter uses WebAssembly for local processing and says files do not leave the computer, though some files may be processed on Convert3D or partner servers, and API processing is server-side. Users can preview models in 3D and rotate, zoom, and pan before exporting. The browser viewer can display scene hierarchy, node properties, material details, wireframe view, and material maps. A compressor offers low, medium, and high presets, with optional geometry, quantization, and texture settings, and advertises compression up to 80%. Desktop apps are available for Mac, Windows, and Linux. Developers can use the REST API for batch conversion in applications, pipelines, and automation workflows. API models are encrypted in transit and at rest and automatically deleted after processing. The Free API plan costs nothing for 10 conversions. Paid plans cost $899 a year, $1,799 a year, or $4,899 a year.

meshio

meshio is free, MIT-licensed software for reading and writing unstructured mesh files and converting among supported formats. Its format coverage includes Abaqus, ANSYS msh, CGNS, Gmsh, STL, VTK, VTU, and XDMF. A Python API reads meshes, exposes points and cells, and writes them in a selected format. The command-line tool converts, inspects, compresses, decompresses, and switches files between ASCII and binary forms. XDMF support handles time series that use one shared mesh. A ParaView plugin opens meshio-supported files after installation when ParaView uses the matching Python major version. Installation is documented through pip and conda-forge. Some formats need optional netCDF4 and h5py dependencies from the all extra. meshio specifies Python 3.8 or later and supports Windows, macOS, and Linux. Project metadata targets science, engineering, and scientific research.
